| 1. depends on where you are coming from. |
I find it pretty centrist, with a slight rightward bias. Ask a republican, and they say it's left-wing.

and not exactly fair and balanced either. They area about ideas, period.
Which kind of made Kennedy's remarks the other day sound like a rap singer at the opera.

| 5. There was a guy on Dobbs today from Brookings |
He seemed to be a little left leaning - well, maybe not exactly left leaning but he wasn't afraid to criticize the administration - which probably makes him more of a centrist. But still....so many of these think tanks are clearly in the neocon pocket that it just made me wonder.
Speaking of Dobbs, man, that guy is kicking ASS lately! I wonder how long before CNN gives him the boot :eyes:

| 6. definitely reTHUGlican...but not as wing-nut as 'heritage foundation' |
or the 'hudson institute', which are more radically religiouly insane...
the brookings institute knows that their bread-and-butter comes from more moderate reTHUGlican fanatics...the typical cheap-labor-conservatives...

| 9. Brookings and RAND are the two most reputable. |
These two, which started on the "right" (RAND) and "left" (Brookings), are not considered probably the most objective and non-ideological policy analyses shops. There is still a slight right/left bias in these two thinktanks, but they are both well-regarded.

It doesn't come with an ideological axe like Heritage. It's not necessarily always right, but it's fairly dry and academic, but puts out some good stuff.
