This letter was forwarded to me........
SUBJECT: Letter from friend who's brother died in Iraq
<Bill, Good to see you the other day. As you know, my sister’s husband is a fallen soldier from the 101st Airborne in N. Iraq. When President Bush visited their base in Kentucky the other day to “grieve” with families, my sister had a chance to speak with him. A strong Bush supporter, she expected to be comforted by the Commander in Chief. Instead, when she questioned whether the sacrifice was worth it in because no WMDs were found and explained how difficult life would be without her husband, the President responded “what am I supposed to do about it.” She couldn’t believe his response. Was he talking about the war, her loss or both? Nobody was asking him for anything, she just wanted to be comforted by the person that sent her husband to Iraq in the first place. Needless to say, my sister was a little upset by this. Anyway since we are both former Bush supporters and you were in the military, I thought you would find this interesting. Take care,
Anne

statements he has made. There is the story, pre-9/11, when Bush decided to visit the Lincoln Memorial. The place was cleared of tourists and other people where brought into "pose" as tourists for a photo op. I think this was July 4th. On the way out, one of the real tourists commented about some policy issue and Bush reportedly turned and said "Who cares what you think." This is a man who as a youth blew up frogs with firecrackers. This is a man who had nothing to say to the daughters of that poor man dragged to his death behind a pick up truck in Texas. One of the women said he was cold and dismissive to them when they were brought to the governor's office by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson to talk about a hate crimes bill.

| 6. That is so outrageous.. even I , a Bush* hater... |

find that hard to believe! He probably thinks like that but I really don't believe he would dare say such a thing. We should take some things with a grain of salt. If it had been a letter from YOUR sister...I would definitely believe scum like him actually said that.

but I could imagine the scenario where the woman won't let him shrug her off and he gets frustrated and just spews it out without thinking. I think the families are able to meet semi privately with the President during these sessions too.
