| Dumbass Country Music Lyrics and the dumbasses who write them |
|
Dumbass right wing moron country singer Darrell Worley asks us in his latest song "Have you forgotten?" Rhymes with Bin Laden, real cute, huh? He implies that those who opposed the war in Iraq have forgotten about 9/11 and that we give aid and solace to the enemy. The dumbass also sings that our soldiers in Iraq know what the war is all about even if we don't. Hmmmmm! Wanna revisit that issue Dumbass? Maybe write another song about how you and your moron kind were wrong. Maybe an apology. I won't hold my breath. Today in Buzzflash there is a story about how the Pentagon is "dis"embedding reporters from the units where the complaining soldiers were assigned. "Soldiers families are also being advised not to complain to the media." On second thought Dickhead Worley, maybe our soldiers do know why we are there. One solid fact; You aren't there along with the rest of your chickenhawk chickenshits.

And for a while I couldn't get away from it. I'm a trucker and I run up to this same plant every day. I have to pass through security to get in. There was the guard in his little guard shack cranking the tune on his radio and tapping his foot while he fills out my security pass. He's a nice guy and I usually have a word with him on my way in, but not that day.
Then a couple of nights later a friend of mine invites me to go out to a new bar that he found with him. It was a little country bar out in the sticks. The patrons were partial to country and the juke box was cranked up to an almost deafening level. Sure enough somebody eventually played that song. I had a few drinks in me so I had a real hard time not saying anything. I just went into the john and yelled out, "God bless the fucking USA!"
I know exactly what this war is all about and my memory is excellent. And I'm still against the war.

Anyone that admits to liking Country Music since about 1975 should up and apologize. :-)
Folk, Bluegrass, Old Country and Cowboy Music is one thing, modern Country is often embarrassingly soft Rock with silly sappy lyrics.

There's a lot of ignorance about different music genres & their content here on DU.
People should learn the full history of a music before bashing it.

| 5. That song completely misses the point |
|
NOBODY ever said "not to worry about Bin Laden." It over simplifies the issues. People that have nothing intelligent to say should just keep quiet.

Floyd Cramer played the same 4 licks over and over for 40+ years. Please say you were only kidding. He's as overrated as Elton John and Billy Joel. The Professor

| 19. Yeah, but those four licks were GOOD. |
|
And amazing how they fit in so many different melodies! I'm not a huge fan of Cramer, but I still love "Last Date."

| 14. Pre 75 country lyrics like |
|
"I've got the hungries for your love and I'm waiting in your welfare line???" I like country music and I'm not going to up and apologize. And often, country lyrics of today are not soft rock and silly sap. But I guess since you obviously listen you would know that. Back to the original intent; Darrel Worly used a country song and exposed himself to be a fake patriot and a dumbass.

BTW, I am not a country music fan...
We Will Remember By Joel S. (a_random_joel) No copyright needed - distribute freely!
I hear country singers wailing about the need to go to war, But I must have missed the part when they knocked on recruiter's doors What about the profits that naive, young Darryl makes does he offer to the victims any cash he generates? Some careers are launched like missiles; some careers will hit dead-ends, So before you take advantage, Let me tell you this my friend:
Chorus1 We will remember, there's no need for war Aren't truth, freedom and justice What America stands for? We will remember, when our nation changed From a Democratic country To a global renegade You perpetrate the lies about September We will remember
They pitch with fear and anger all over the T.V. But it's useless propaganda for those of us whose minds are free Some folks take time to reason; some are all too quick to judge And even when the case is weak, some folks will never budge Testosterone and ego are the fuels for this fight It's too bad some folks can't see it's fuel driving "Might Makes Right"
Chorus 1
We all know what our soldiers In the past fought proudly for How so easily forgotten By America's pro-war
Chorus2 We will remember; We still have our dignity We will not sacrifice our rights to truth and liberty! We will remember - greed and power forced this war Support our troops by bringing them home That's all we're asking for All that's left for me to say is come November We will remember.
We will remember. We will remember.

Great lyrics.
I feel blessed that I haven't had to endure the Worley song but it does remind me of a powerpoint slideshow that I received in an email back in May with the same title. It was supposed to make you think that 911 was somehow related to Iraq and Sadaam- I had to drop the knowledge on the person who sent it to me-

All those A-rabs look the same, so it don't really matter if them I-raqis done bombed us or not, cause them cousins a' there's done it, and blood's thicker than water, so we gonna havta kill'em all, cause they all trying to kill us, hatin' us for our freedoms and alla that.
(As a native "country hick" I do know the vernacular and the philosophy that inspires it).
That being said, I love and respect the Dixie Chicks, and am so glad to have Merle countering this crap with his song, and have Willie Nelson campaigning for Kucinich. Not all country folk are stupid, not to mention the fact that all the unions, whose members' ancestors are some of the most underprivileged folk in the history of the U.S., are squarely behind the democrats.
More and more people will be speaking up as more and more soldiers die, and as the Right makes more and more stupid remarks that show they never really gave a damn about the soldiers in the first place.

Have you forgotten ... about bin Laden ... etc. etc.
Obviously BushCo. HAS forgotten about bin Laden, otherwise they'd have still been looking for him instead of mongering (is that a word?) an unjust war with Iraq.
