| ABC: Another "Post-Mic-Moment" for Kerry... |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-26-04 06:13 PM by Flubadubya
Peter Jennings just showed a few shots of Charlie Gibson GRILLING Kerry about the medals and post Vietnam comments. Gibson was obviously on a scorched earth tirade, going at Kerry with a vengeance.
Jennings showed the end of the interview where Kerry was taking his microphone off. Kerry says (for all to hear), "They're doing the work of the Republican National Committee." ...referring to the media, of course.
Props to you John! You hit the nail right on the head. And thank you Peter J. for showing it. It was one of those outtakes that would never have been seen if Jennings hadn't had the cojones to do it. :bounce:
Edit for misnomer and other clarification.

I thought it was an incredibly cheap shot. It will be spun by the Repugs as another whine by Kerry, wait and see.
I'm so frustrated. ABC has previously seemed less biased than the other news outlets, but today they've been on my last nerve.

|
The Repugs will spin ANYTHING he says, regardless of what it is. If he says "I really have to take a piss." They'll spin it as ..."Kerry says he pisses on American Families!"
Some people will take what he said, and believe him, regardless of Chinless Gillespie's spin a day later.
What is he supposed to do, say nothing out of fear for being misquoted?

I wholeheartedly agree with it. I think it was cheap of ABC to show it. It seemed like a nasty little "gotcha" because they didn't like him standing up to Charlie Gibson.

| 7. Gee, Dean Got A "Do-Over" On His Osama Statement |
|
Remember Dean's "Teflon"?
Kerry never got a fraction of the largesse that Dean got. At least not til he won Iowa by a huge margin.
Dean stuck a "kick-me" sign on his back repeatedly.
The only question is why it took the media so long to finally haul off and kick Dean in the ass....

And when Dean said it, there was a certain level of absurdity to the comment.
Dean benefitted from more free, good press than any candidate. It was so obvious the media wanted him to win. In a sense, he was right that the media was interfering. But they had intefered so long on his behalf, it was funny to complain about it when he diid.
The media only took out there pent-up frustration with Dean (probably caused by his failure to convert all their assistance into Iowa votes) AFTER it became clear Dean wasn't going to win the primary or the nomination.
And, even then, they were just reporting on the crack cocain version of what was wrong with Dean's campaign all along.

|
This interview will make Kerry look like a conspiracy kook by blaming his "problems" on the media. ABC ran this clip on the evening news to make Kerry look out of control. They ran the hit piece on the medals on GMA and followed it up with this hit piece on the evening news. I don't know what got into ABC, but they have unleashed the attack dogs on JFK. What's next, his wifes tax returns?

it was a "bad moment" for Kerry. It's hard to say what ABC's intention was. In my book, however, it absolutely bared the underbelly of the right-wing media beast and showed how biased and vicious they are in promoting the conservative agenda, and Kerry simply "told it like it is".
As far as I'm concerned he simply exposed them for what they are. Sure, the Rethugs will call him a whiner, but he still got the truth out.

No matter how they try to spin it,if a big deal gets made of the statement it might open up debate about media bias in favor of the boy king. I just hope the right people would get involved in that debate and expose at least some of what the media has been doing.

This wasn't a "crazed" moment, but focused and honest. I heard the interview and Gibson's allegiance to the RNC was as transparent as glass. ABC got an email from me, also.

| 18. OK. So what will our bright and beautiful surrogates say? |
|
When asked about it, what they should say is, "John Kerry is absolutely right, and you're walking talking proof of it. A week ago I'd have thought that no GOP media shill could be shameless enough to even compare the record of a hero who volunteered to get shot in Viet Nam with the record of a guy who tried to get out of going. But I guess you're proving that no low is too low for bush cheerleaders in the media."

The Left has let the RW claim left media bias. Reporters were so afraid of being called biased that thet tilted right. Now a Dem is calling them biased and won't back down. Maybe they'll wake up and realize Dems won't take it anymore.
Yes, I know the right owns the media. It's business. Yada yada yada. Still reporters hate to be called biased.
