2. Using Sirius in the home is not easy

Hope you don't mind my 2 cents worth about Sirius.

First, I LOVE Sirius. Just for having in the car I am happy! Commercial free music and great talk channels are the main pull.

Sirius does not work well inside the home. I live in Pacific and was told by the instructions that the antennae must face south or east. I have windows that face both but cannot get good reception inside the house. I received a newsletter from Sirius explaining that at different times of the year, the direction of the antenna will shift.

In the car, however, it is a different story. I have traveled all over California with Sirius in my car and the only time I have lost signal for more than 5 seconds is in parts of Yosemite (where the trees block the sky). Signal is lost anytime the sky is blocked so tunnels, freeway overpasses, and carports, parking garages, and gas stations all will have trouble.

Anyway, for the home, it was recommended that I buy an outdoor antenna (linked here http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=1066068010890). Since I mostly sirius in my car or use my computer, I did not invest in that antenna.

We also have Dish Satellite, and they are supposed to carry it later. It is very confusing buying the system if you have not been familiar with it.

Best Buy tried to sell the "whole deal" to us for $93, and we found that is not correct at all. Almost twice as much.

I would LIKE to have the outdoor antenna even with the Dish access. The reason is that my computer is in the other room from the Satellite receiver for Dish.

4. We found Circuit City folks to be much more knowledgeable.

Best Buy was not helpful here, and they never answer the phone either.

The Circuit City guys were helpful overall. We are just novices at this, too.

6. I am a BBB

I am a Best Buy Biatch--I buy EVERYTHING from Best Buy, even though their cashier lines are horrible, their stores are overcroweded, their techs are usually worthless--I just keep going back--I am one of those who enjoy punishment, maybe? Well that is for my therapist to decide. Anyway, I know best buy is not all that great but I still keep going back.


HOWEVER, their car radio installation guys are really good. They are kind, knowledgeable, overworked, and really helped me out installing a system (I will tear apart and rebuild a computer all day long at work but will not mess with my car!). My sirius antena for the car went out 3 weeks after the install and they replaced the antenea (reinstalled too) for free.

There were personal issues between Bev and Roxanne played out on DU one night that led to Skinner pulling each up short by their collars.... Rules were read, hands were spanked. Bev chose to come back, Roxanne decided to leave. And as I recall, there was narry a freeper in sight.

I think you may have Rox confused with a former Palast employee....... :shrug:
