Would take an unbelievable amount of cruelty. The British had to get medieval on the Iraqis after WW2, in order to maintain control of the place. If we were to ever pacify Fallujah and/or other hotspots, we'd practically have to commit genocide. As long as an American soldier is in Iraq they will be shot at, unless we genuflect the whole country in a manner that is too awful to even think about. The neo-cons have brought some seriously dark days upon the world. It's sad.
