To the Editor:
I was a Republican yesterday, I am a Republican today, and I will probably be a Republican tomorrow. I am not a Democrat because I still hold to the philosophy that the Democrats are the tax-and-spend party.

But I must say that in November, I will stay home. George W. Bush and his crew are pathetic and, worse, inept. How can it be that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld was not briefed on Maj. Gen. Antonio M. Taguba’s Army report? Perhaps a little more gravitas from Mr. Rumsfeld would be in order.

Each new disclosure proves that the Iraq adventure is the biggest mistake since Vietnam. Will the United States ever learn?

We’ve been amazed by the pundit corps’ complete inability to say what this writer does. Has the Bush Admin done anything in Iraq which wasn’t grossly misstated or hopelessly bungled? This week, we were told that neither Rumsfeld nor General Myers nor Bush himself had managed to read the Taguba report. Once again, we’re asked to believe what defies belief. And the press keeps pretending it’s possible....

11. Not exactly the NYT, but I was reading the LTTE in

The Austin (TX) American-Statesman yesterday, and of five letters that concerned either Iraq or foreign policy, all five exoriated Bush and his tentful of clowns.

Lest you think, well that's just Austin, and everybody knows Austin is liberal, I have to tell you we've had such an influx of engineers and rich folks in the past decade, that we're not quite the liberal bastion we used to be. Still quite tolerant, but not that liberal.

Moreover, the Stateman isn't liberal at all, in my view, and if they could've found some pro-Bush letters to run, I guaran-damn-tee you they would have run them.

BTW, I'm not seeing any Bush-Cheney bumperstickers around here, either. My mother lives in a Republican area of town and if there were any, I'd see them there.

They may vote for the bastard, but they aren't goint to associate themselves with him publicly!

15. I know the AAS isn't liberal

so that's a damn good sign that, as you say, they ran what was sent.
The NYTimes tends to reflect (report as it were) the balance of sentiment on any given issue.

others use their Defense Department credit cards to rack up personal items, which the taxpayer pays for. There was a "scandal" a few years ago about this, soldiers going to girlie bars, going on cruises, all paid for by the taxpayer because the credit card program had no oversight!

He'll vote for Bush. The emotion of the moment will pass, Bush will pull some last minute stunt that plays to his base on some superficial level, and we will have had 6 more months of "tax and spend" and "flip-flop." He'll pull the lever for Bush.

By the way, anybody remember when Clinton was a waffler and a flip flopper? Can't these people even come up with new negative talking points? How soon 'til they try to paint Kerry as a liar?
