| Because I voted for * in 2000, I bear some of the responsibility... |
|
...for all that has happened.
I wasn't enamored of the man when I voted for him. I even gave him a chance after 9-11 to prove he could unite the country.
I am sorry my political awakening came so late. I was raised by rabid right-wing fundies and I'm still sorting out the impact. But once again, I apologize for being so wrong.

The fact that you were able to awaken from a right-wing fundie upbringing speaks volumes about your character. Our upbringing can put quite a hex on us politically and socially be proud that you were able to break out on your own. Scott

would not have been an issue had Tennesseans supported a favorite son so now they get their just desserts, the government they deserve. And remember Tennesseans voted Al's father out of office because of his moderate stand on civil rights.

because you have seen the light. The fact that you are here heartens me, because I know there are many other Republicans out there who realize what a mistake they made in 2000, and who vow not to make that mistake again.

Mind you, I'm not making excuses for you. You must feel terrible with the way things have turned out. If only other Republicans could see that he is not really one of them. He uses them to divide the country into Democrats vs Repubs but that is as far as it goes. He is a radical, tear-down-the-government, cut the taxes and starve the social programs, pro-war, anti-UN, arrogant Neocon.

You had nothing to do with Dubya sitting in Al Gore's chair.
Because of the Renquist Court, there was no election in 2000.

|
almost everyone I talked to in 2000 had their mindset manipulated by the mainstream media - M3'ed - into thinking that 'Al Gore is such a liar, ewww'. It was like an echo chamber where only Republican lies make sound. I can understand how many people couldn't make sense of anything from about 1998 on when they stopped pretending to care about anything else.
At least you're here now. One good thing about that is that once you get here, it's hard to go back to the pure bullshit that is being a right-winger.

Since not all the ballots were counted, it was an illegitimate election. Remember: my vote didn't count because I voted for Gore, yours didn't count because you voted for bushsucks*. The votes were not counted. Nobody's vote counted. Get it?

...It's OK....my Dad, a lifelong Republican is disgusted and not going to support Bush - something I never thought I'd see in my lifetime...
Now what you can do is help bring others over from their slumber and help wake them up to see the truth....

In a nation where admission of mistakes is paramount to disease, it take a strong will to buck the trend. Alas, deep down, many * supporters are trapped by the urge to never be wrong, and it outweighs their sense of decency. That, or their nuts.

Secondly, here's how you atone: join your local Democrats group. Help them. Become a voter registar. Start working voter registration tables, esp. in Dem areas. Attend some * protests if you feel so inclined. Write letters to the editor. Call your reps.
And know you are in good company. If I had a dollar for everyone I know who voted for the putz in 2000 and want him out now, I could go on a GREAT vacation!
And I live in Texas!

| 23. I intend to do just this. |
|
I've already attended some demonstrations, stood in the city courtyard with a handful of others and been alternately booed and applauded. I was surprised that most of the vocal people were actually on our side. One exception was a local business owner with kids in his van who just had to circle the block in order to shout about how unpatriotic we were.
I think those who support the * are getting more and more reluctant to admit it to those of us who don't.

I didn't vote for him, but I also didn't raise any fuss when I went to bed that fateful night in November with Gore as our president and awoke to find that GW swindled it. I feel the guilt that I should have gotten upset THEN, and wrote letters and protested, but I was totally apathetic.
It's ok to make a mistake as long as we learn from it. :)
