Dean/Graham...the winning combination.

The more I think about it the more I like this combination.

Both Dean & Graham are governors, and both are fairly pragamatic centerists. Graham does have a bit more experience on foreign policy & in national politics, but that wouldnt preculde him from taking the VP slot (look at Cheney and Bush). Then there is the war/national security issue. We can assume Bush is going to run on this, and both Dean and Graham have opposed Bush fairly strongly, compared to some of the other mainstream Dems.

Finally there is ticket balancing...Graham makes the Dean canidacy credible in the South..in the border South, Florida, and states like Arkansas and Lousiana.

If Dean wins the nomination I think Dean/Graham will be the winning ticket.

No slap to DEAN but i bet a million that none of the top tier, Liberman, Kerry, Edwards, will run with DEAN, not that he doesnt have a good message. Its just that the threat of a Landslide is too great. SO my bet is that someone that is Unemployed (either an EX congressman, senator but probably governer will run with him) in fact my prediction is a no brainer.

...so I think that fits yr scenario.

It would be interesting to see if a Dean asks and folks refuse. Thats going to be an ill omen.

seems to have the greatest disdain for Howard Dean and it has shown on numerous occasion. Graham would ask his supporters to back ANYONE but Dean.

6. Graham has NEVER dissed another candidate

and has specifically asked his supporters not to do so.

His campaign objected when Dean said he was the only one in the race who had experience choosing judges, which was not true (Graham as governor appointed a number of judges to the Florida Supreme court, including women and minorities.)

Dean also claimed (like someone in this thread) that Graham was not a top tier candidate.

He ended up apologizing for both of these comments.

8. Graham is probably retiring from the Senate...

whether he wins the nomination or not. So although he is currently not unemployed, he would be so after January 2005 anyway... it would be a win/win situation for him.

too bad you are buying into that Dean is a sure loser crap. The only one of our candidates in my mind who is in a danger of losing in a landslide to Bush is maybe Lieberman becuz he is alienating our base by assailing liberals. If he is nominated I fear that the progressive wing will sit on its hands or vote Independent.
