It's expected and the norm... I live in SC where an effective push polling campaign undid the McCain lead.... they'll push poll their own kind out of office if it doesn't fit in their greater PNAC plan.

Exposing Repug dirty tricksters WORKS.
There's a Mayor's race going on in my town right now & everybody thought this corporate-lackey type Jim Francesconi was a shoo-in. He had all the cash & union endorsements, etc. But he started push polling against his closest rival Tom Potter who's sort of a local character - very colorful reformer/good liberal (ex-police chief!).
Anyhoo, Potter started running ads that exposed Francesconi's push polling... "hiring people from out of state to conduct push polls?!" It was a radio ad that portrayed somebody being called for a push poll & the person on the phone being shocked & offended that they would do such a thing.
It was VERY CLEVER, IMO. And I would say that it WORKED. Because besides a very wide field of candidates & progressives splitting the vote against the frontrunner, Potter is in a runoff. I think he's going to win.

I wish you had delayed your explanation. You diminished the warm glow of self-satisfaction I had from "getting" your post, pre-annotation.

but the thread wasn't exactly going in the right direction.
i thought it was much less subtle than I guess it turned out to be.

It's common practice for them. Ask John McCain.

even if it is in a shameless "hey, look at me" sort of way.
what you say is partially true, but it hardly wins support.
