| 1. Bush drops Cheney from ticket |
|
The re-animated corpse of Reagan is unveiled at the Repug Convention and placed on the ticket with Bush. Repugs cite the "Bill Clinton could be VP" arguments in support of the Reagan zombie.

| 9. Because it is necessary to have Zombie Reagan as VP |
|
Cheney's ouster is the set-up; Zombie Reagan is the payoff.

| 4. I never figured it would be an October Surprise |
|
I figured it would happen at the outset of the Democratic National Convention, pre-empting Kerry all week long.

| 11. Hey Walt, that's what I've been saying too! |
|
The Repugs would love to have the Reagan love-fest during the Dems convention. That would kill any convention bounce.

| 6. The October surprise doesn't mean October literally |
|
it's just a phrase for pre-election surprise or contrivance designed to affect the election outcome. I had already discounted a Reagan death during this time frame because the odds of it happening in the months leading up to the election seemed remote.
I would say such predictions, if he dies soon, may not have been on the money but certainly in the ball park.

they've been dropping hints, pointing to the Spain attack.
Some whores are even declaring, without evidence, that al Qaeda wants John Kerry to win.

The news media was on the verge of premature prognostication over a stolen propane truck last weekend, and even NPR is running big pieces on dirty bombs.
