| Is the Circus Over? Is It Safe to Come Back to the Dem Underground?? |
|
Haven't come to DU in several days because things are at the "cosmic" joke level. One cannot turn on a tv without having a shovel at their side to get through the massive amount of accumulating dung!!!
Bush, from the WWII memorial dedication through the D-Day events, is trying to compare his pathetic little, self inflicted, Iraq War with the massive World (with a CAPITAL W) War II!!---that's like whining that the boo-boo on your finger is akin to someone having pieces of their body removed because of cancer! And he's trying to give the impression that he (da' war president----give me a break) is akin to the likes of Churchill and FDR (they wouldn't have let that baboon pour their evening drinks for them).
And then comes dead St. Ronnie. Ron was the prototype of GWB---a piece of brainless fluff put into place by the powerful to "play a part". Well at least Ronne had acting lessons and could sound presidential (unless he was caught off guard). This clown can't fake his way through with a prepared speech. Ronnie is not the cause of things they like to heap on him-----the USSR fell because it spent everything it had on war weapons (sound familiar??--maybe, Putin can claim he defeated us once we spend ourselves into George's war oblivion)!
And now, I see Papa Bush is going to be stumping around yacking about "my best friend, Ronnie". The Reagans loathed the Bushes. He never wanted him for VP but apparently Papa Bush had something on Ron. The Reagans snubbed them publicly. At W's convention, Nancy refused to attend until suddenly on the day of the acceptance speech it was revealed she changed her mind. She was introduced and waived. Two minutes into the speech when the cameras panned back to the area, she was gone----little (I like the things money can buy) Nancy was paid real good by the Repukes for that endorsement of the Chimp!
My only relief is that in about 10 days the Repukes have blown their wad. No more WWII glory (I mean it's the 60th----we already had the 50th, etc. and it's getting old). And no chance of digging Ron up and parading him around again. And plenty of time left until November. I'm waiting until I can safely return my shovel to the basement...............

| 5. Rat, tonight I feel like I'm getting close to 1,000 years old |

I can't stand any more of this circus. We have real issues in this country and the same barstool patriots that got us into the Iraq follies are getting all liquored up again on this senseless, pointless and useless crap. P.S. Just to share something. On tonight's news they were trying to make a big thing about the "make shift" memorials in front of the Presidential library, etc. It was pathetic---there are more flowers and signs and flags, etc. in hometown USA for fallen soldiers than at these "memorials"----It's like 2 dozen people dropped off flowers and flags. That's when I about broke up laughing----they are trying to pump this like the second coming and going of Christ and no one cares.

My local paper had a FULL page misty picture of the old fool with some inane quote about if we want heroes we just hafta know where to look. Clear inference that we should look to St Ronnie and no further. Shit.
My only consolation is that soon it will be over and it didn't happen closer to the election.
And I have to laugh (in a pained way). To think that the old fraud managed to upstage the D-Day fest. I imagine the networks were shitting bricks when they got the news. All that expensive coverage they had planned for D-Day! All that emotional coverage they had planned for Ronnie's death! Which to choose? Oh the horror.

they had all these people over there to make Bush look magestic and boom, old dead Ronnie stole the spotlight. Bet the Bush boy threw a coniption fit!! And then there were people who died in Iraq these couple days who no one cares about 'cause it isn't "glorious". I was listening to some international news. Ronnie was listed about 5 down the line in top stories. And Bush's visits in Europe were reduced to the meaningless rubble that they really are for the world. Americans need to stop living in tv land and grow up.

You know, I think it all ties into the media search for a "heart-touching" story. Kind of the corporate news version of a Hallmark Greeting card. And we, of course, are drowning in sap.
This is a major irritant of mine...the drive to emotionalize absolutely everything about life in America in a cheap ploy for TV ratings.
Just think, 60 years ago we had D-Day. Now we have "Operation Enduring Freedom", "Operation Desert Storm", etc. If "D-Day" was sufficient for Roosevelt and Churchill than something equally restrained should suffice for the current bunch.
Look at the sob fest they've planned for Ronnie. For Christ's sakes, the man was 93 years old and they're acting like the republic won't be able to go on without him.
Bah humbug I say!

Besides, you said something bad about RR!
We have decided, since you've been gone, that no one can say anything bad about RR. It might look bad on our report card, and all that.
We have to wait two weeks to begin saying bad things about RR, or otherwise the RRRwingers might get mad. Can't have that. Nope. Nosireee, don't wanna piss off the freepers, or limpballs.

| 13. You mean I have to go out and get a black armband??? |
|
But would that be to express my grief for the loss of such a vital man or to wear on our nation's new Hitler outfits??? And just how much love and respect do those who want to "wait out of respect" think we would get if the passing was that of Carter or Clinton?? The media and the repukes would be pointing out all the failings, etc. and the repukes would be doing a gang pissing on the grave!! And the American people will go along with whatever they see and hear. That's why it's disgusting that M/M average American don't realize all this bastard did. He stood at his convention and told working men and women that their unions were the devil and they should abandon them. They did. What they got for it was very much weakened representation in D.C. while the corporations took over the city; their jobs eliminated; pay and benefits destroyed and now outsourcing, etc. He told them to stop fighting for themselves. They did and we are now living with that horror. That's where all the stupid white men went and to this day they are too stupid to come back and fight. I hope non-union men plant him and then after a bad rainstorm they find Ronnie floating in the nearest creek.

No truth about RR is allowed for two weeks! Didn't I warn you?
Now the nice new DU, "RR Correct Conduct"TM, way to say what you said goes something like this: RR went down to the union one day and informed them about Mourning in America. They were so taken by the words that they decided, then and there, that the union was not good for America and they would get rid of it as soon as possible. All because of the great communicator promised them he would pull them up by the bootstraps!
As to your little fishing venture: Lord knows floating caskets catch only flies! But still, you said something disrespectful about RR, better watch out, they'll bust you back down to three posts!
Cain't say I didn't warn ya!
