| What Administration is/was more corrupt? Reagan's or Bush 2 |
|
With the total of 31 convictions during the Reagan years, he certainly leads in the department. BUT it is mind boggling that Dubya's been in office a little more than 3 years and is gaining the impression as the most corrupt ever. The only reason we're not seeing convictions, (yet) is that the Senate and House Repukes are just as corrupt for providing cover for this administration.

| 1. We'll see a lot more convictions after this fall. |

The only reason the republicans took the house and the senate in 2002 was that they were riding a wave of post-9/11 grief and fear. They're still riding that wave, but it's not as high as it was 2 years ago. And I think the Bush Administration is every bit as corrupt as Reagan's, it's just that they're not as good as putting on a "Who, me?" face when people call them on stuff. Bush will leave office either through an election or a nice messy impeachment. If he gets a second term, he won't make it through the whole thing.

let's see... a reminder of a few items that don't get continual play:
the Dept of Agriculture prevents farmers from testing all of their beef for mad cows disease as a way for opening markets back up (such as Japan) who will not currently import US beef (don't trust our "safety standards".. cite it as a public health issue)... because large meat producers don't want to be forced (by ... public consumption of OTHER producers who do test... er... competition) to do the same.
the Dept of the Interior continuing to reclassify public lands to give mining rights to private corporations with absolutely zero benefit (not even a cut of the profit going back to the public coffers) for the public who own and maintain the lands through taxes.
Now why would they make these decisions... follow the campaign and lobbying money trail.
How many more can folks pull up off the top of the head that point to huge conflict of interest.. the more "obscure" cases the blatant decisions that go against the public interest but that don't get ongoing news coverage.
