| Poll question: If you lived in California (or if you do) who would you vote in the recall |

Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 01:36 PM by camcb
I am changing this. If the recall went through, which candidate would you vote for?

I would vote against the recall, but then I would probably vote for Arianna Huffington, if it were held today. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

Voting for the other candidates basically means your voting 'Yes' on the recall
Even if we oppose the recall, and we should, we absolutely have to have a safety valve in case it passes. That's why Bustamante's running. I'd vote a big fat NO on the Repukkke recall, then vote Bustamante on the second part of the ballot.

|
It looks like selecting any other candidate is basically a yes vote for the recall, a vote for Gray Davis is a no vote for the recall.

|
This is so frustrating.
It does matter who you vote for. The likelihood of getting 51% of Californians to vote no on the recall is slim. That's why uniting behind one candidate as the replacement is so important. If liberals split their vote between Bustamante, Huffington and Camejo; Arnold's chance of winning is increased.
Not to mention that if you respect democracy and respect that the Democratic candidate won in November; it is only ethical to replace Davis with the Democratic contender supported by the party.

I think you can vote NO on recall, (I will), and still pick another candidate in case the recall happens. I saw that one of Cruz's slogans was: NO on recall, YES on Bustamante.

And it isn't helping an already bad and dismal situation. People are saying the next governor could have only 20% of the vote and I hope it's that high. I fear people will stay away in droves wich will suit the puppetmasters just fine. http://www.prospect.org/webfeatures/2003/08/blumenthal-m-08-13.html

|
That's the way it's set up. If 51% or more vote to recall Davis, Bustamante needs a plurality of the votes.
Camejo already almost threw the election to Simon last November -- we don't need a repeat to end up with Ahnuld.

Once again...you can vote on BOTH PARTS of the Recall (Recall AND replacemnt candidate) It is NOT dependent on whether you vote NO or YES on Recall.

because you can vote against the recall, but for a candidate, as if it were a second choice. In that case, I would vote NO on the recall and for Bustamante.

I could understand why the person did it, it would make a flawed poll to have a Yes-No option on the poll, then list the candidates. I understood it perfectly. I know if the recall failed, you could vote for the other candidates. But if you vote to recall Gray Davis, you are doing it because you would want to vote for someone who you think is better.

it wdnt let me vote for Cruz. The poll is going to be off cuz Gray already had 30 something voters who will be disenfranchised in the second poll. I will take this matter to the Supreme Court.

If Bustamante had not joined the race, I think Arianna would have had a real chance.. I said I would vote for Larry Flynt and I would have IF Arainna & Cruz had not gotten in..
The most important part is part ONE...NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONO
and of course, now we MUST vote Bustamante on part 2..just i case Ahhhnold gets the salivating celeb worshippers vote...you know..the ones who think they are voting in some stupid movie star magazine or American Idol poll :(

|
This RW-financed coup-attempt should have us howling in the streets. Think of what's been done to the states with the most electoral votes:
Texas = Bush Florida = Bush New York = 9/11 California = Coup
Gray Davis isn't my kind of Democrat (lot progressive enough by a long shot), but he was fairly elected in a *legitimate* election.
California is in fiscal trouble due to multiple reasons, not the least of which is the lousy Bush economy. Most of the crap that hit the fan in California is NOT Davis's fault. He does not deserve this. Californians do not deserve this.

I am afraid some voters will superficially do the same. "No" on recall is the most important statement a Democrats can make (and a green who cares about Democracy too).

| 26. Bustamante, with a caveat |
|
I will vote for the candidate most likely to deny any Republican the governor's office. If the election were held today, I wopuld vote for Bustamante. My vote is so recorded above.
However, if on Ocotber 7, another candidate -- Camejo, Arianna, Georgy or whoever -- is in a better position than Bustamante, I will vote for that candidate.
Take the Jack Rabbit Recall Pledge: I solemny pledge to vote NO on the recall of Governor Davis and vote for the replacement candidate most likely to deny any Republican the governor's office on October 7.

And I do believe it will be Bustamante but I have a question that I have not been able to find an answer for.
If/when Gray Davis prevails in this recall thing, and the vote tally for the 130+ people is a moot subject, will results be made public? I personally think of the second part of the ballot as being provisional on the first half passing, and wonder if it shouldn't be buried like it never even existed. Just curious, and thinking about 2006 gubernatorial election ramifications.

| 30. It depends how the polls look when Oct 7 rolls around. If Arnold is |
|
hopelessly ahead, one has a "free" (but meaningless) vote for a candidate that one really likes - for me, this could be Arianna, or Camejo, or a Socialist. (This would be similar to voting for Nader in 2000 in a state that either Gore or Bush had obviously locked up.)
But if it looks close between Arnold and Bustamente, I'll probably vote for Cruz.
