| C-Span guy says "turn us off" |
|
The guy on Washington Journal just jumped all over a caller and told her to "turn it off" if she didn't like the continuous coverage of Reagan's death.
I obliged.
Somebody let me know when it's safe to turn the tv on again. Obviously today is not the day.

| 2. That must have been Brian Lamb. |

He gets insulted if someone calls in with complaints about the media. In fact, all the hosts on Washington Journal get upset about that.

The other night I heard him ask during an interview, "Where does it say that the media should broadcast a diversity of ideas?"

Congress isn't in session. Most of the normal D.C. Friday luncheons and symposia are canceled. They have no other programming, and it is a major affair of state. CSPAN should be covering it.
If you don't like it and don't want to see it, (and i don't), then don't. Turn it off. It'll all be over soon. The Professor

| 6. It will start to cool down next week. |
|
Saturday, there will probably be coverage of the burial. Sunday, there will probably be talk of it on the morning chat shows. Monday, things will start to go back to normal.
No matter how hard they try, the media cannot keep this story going forever. Fatigue will start to set in, and viewers will start to turn away if this coverage goes on for much longer than a week.

| 10. I agree, they've had their love fest |

They were just so excited to have some different news to report all week. They've been preparing for this week for the past 10 years. There'll still be some comments on the talk show, both TV & radio, and the repugs will invoke Reagan's name whenever possible to keep the spectra of his spirit alive and the party faithful starry eyed. But for the most part, the American public forgets and moves on to more current events. In a couple of months they'll have the conventions and elections to cover.

I've never seen a 'state funeral' and, as a budding historian, i want to see what one is like.

It is historic and, although I disagree with almost everything the man being honored stood for, I am watching because these ceremonial trappings go back to Kennedy and even further back to Lincoln.
With three former Presidents of advanced age, we will probably be seeing these ceremonies several times in the next ten years.

| 9. At Least C-Span Offers No Commentary |
|
Brian looks like he's in full Reagasm...and surely this is something he and his C-Spanners have been dreaming about since Day One. This is high television, folks...a state funeral with all the pomp and camera shots and hours to fill. My bets are C-Span has had a plan for this coverage in the works constantly since they first went on...and with Raygun's death in particular.
No wonder he's going over the top in bringing on every Repugnian whore he can find...I was suprised we didn't hear the contents of Raygun's stool this morning.
Fortuantely this is about to end...and the over-doing of this will mean people will avoid Raygun rather than want more. Let's see how soon people start wondering how much all of this mess is costing us...and how it could have been used for better purposes.
