I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I was reading a book recently, and it turns out that John Kerry chaired a Senate subcommittee that found that the CIA, under the Reagan administration, sold cocaine to fund the the contras. The CIA was also responsible for refining opium into heroin in Afghanistan to buy arms for the mujahidin and the Taliban. So he may be trying to appeal to centrist democrats, but his actions in the past suggest that he is anything but a centrist Democrat. The only Question I have is why doesn't he bring up his record in he Senate more often. Is he afraid he'll look to liberal. All the findings of his subcommittee are public record?

I thought so.

Bush has really bad press now. Do you really want to get in the way of that. Kerry is doing retail politics where it counts. Making friends and getting local coverage.
On the other hand Bush can only go to staged events where there can be not dissent. He can't win any undecided voters. Politicians have to say a lot of things to be elected. I always judge them on the record they have. Kerry has a good one.
