What kind of political activism would be good for somebody who is relatively shy and/or introverted, but has a strong desire to get involved?

2. Hey I do those things too because I am sort of forced to be a recluse.

They are good suggestions for people like us. And keeping in touch with DUers online is good too. :-)

3. welcome to DU CarlW...good question.

It strikes me a more complicated question than it seems.
Guerilla activism is really catching on with the banners over the freeways etc.
Be creative.
good luck!

5. Funny you mention that -- I've been thinking of that lately ^_^

Good question! It depends on how much of an introvert you are. I would think that phone calls to congresscritters would be doable, as those are short, and it would be really important.
Another fun thing that I've been thinking about it doing some "whisper campaign" sort of stuff. When you find some really good info here that you think is important for people to know, but it's not getting into the news, print it out, and distribute those in places where you can just leave 'em casually laying around. Kinda sneaky, but..... ^_^
There are places where people find themselves waiting for a time, with not much to do, and they pick up anything available to read. I know of people who leave things in magazines in drs offices, and I've thought about places like a food court, or student union of a college (would be a good place for a short thing about the cranking up of the draft)
The other thing is...... just support for those of us who are more "out there"... even though I'm an extrovert, it's really exhausting to be constantly "on" and trying to do work for a campaign, etc. Just hearing others gripes and issues and giving them support can be a *huge* offering!
Thanks for asking the question... it's really a good one, and I appreciate that you are looking for ways to comfortably contribute!

Thank you for the good suggestions and the kind words. Thus far I have donated money to the Kerry campaign and to some progressive groups, signed petitions both in person and online, and faxed letters online to my representatives in the House and Senate.
The main thing on my mind right now is that I want Kerry to get elected. I have never felt more strongly about an election than I do about this one.
