| Questions about US intelligence agencies... |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 06:54 AM by fujiyama
As I understand it, the Pentagon has a seperate intelligence agency. I think it is called the Defense Intelligence Agency. I think they collect mostly military intelligence, while the CIA collects mostly intelligence pertaining to political shifts, etc. Granted this is in theory. In practice, the CIA has had a big role in military intelligence as well I guess...and it's difficult to make the distinction.
Is this distinction right? What about the thing Wolfy, Perle, and Rummy set up in the Pentagon (I think it was some sort of puppet agency which let them hear whatever they wanted to hear. A counterweight of sorts to the CIA)?
Also, where would the defense intelligence people side in the recent battle between the Pentagon and the CIA? Would they side with the CIA, as they are part of the intelligence apparatus, and because they know how disasterous these policies have been for the military? Or would they side with the Pentagon, simply because they are part of the Pentagon? Also, is the defense intelligence agency controlled by the civilian pentagon leadership (in this case Rumsfeld)?

| 1. Politically Motivated intelligence |
|
This is what the American people have spent hundreds of millions if not billions on in spite of what the PUKES have to say about it. They are forever saying that it is the Democrats who like to throw money at problems.
This whole episode has proven one important lessen to those of us who think this Nations intelligence services suck. They have failed on ALL the big ones, From the fall of the Soviet Union to 9/11. Fuck em, Their real purpose is to spy on us, And to find evidence to support their bosses allegations real or not. Remember, George W Bush used the British Intel to help sell his war on Iraq. It’s time for these fuckers to prove their worth or hit the friggin bricks

| 2. Why don't we just shut down all these agencies |
|
or at least cut their funding way, way back. The world will be a much safer and more peaceful place without them. Plus think of all the good things we could do with all that money?

| 3. Well the biggest difference I see... |
|
the DIA usually concerns itself with intelligence gathering for strategic interests of the country. In contrast the CIA usually concerns itself with a more interactive approach to foriegn interests of American Corporations. A good half of all operations are funnelled through drug money, with backup from the Mafia, as well as contacts and affiliations with some of the largest corporations in the world. They usually take up time to overthrow democratic governments that are a threat to U.S. business interests, as well as conducting economic espionage and sabotage against foriegn competitors of these same corporations.
