George Will On The Reagan Cult Of Personality

"(There is) something un-Reaganesque about trying to plaster his name all over the country the way Lenin was plastered over Eastern Europe, Mao over China and Saddam Hussein all over Iraq. It's time for us to rescue Ronald Reagan and his legacy from some of his more zealous friends."

2. My thoughts exactly, even though they came from George Will.

I hear blasted Bush in a recent column. Perhaps the man's ability to see and speak the truth is beginning to evolve. Too bad it didn't happen about 30 years ago, but we'll take whatever crumbs come our way.

Then again, maybe he's finally having second thoughts about coaching Reagan for a 1980 campaign debate using a stolen Democratic playbook. If so, he's still got a long way to go to atone for that.

3. Will not only coached Reagan for the debate

And he may or may not have used a stolen copy of Carter's briefing book to do it, he then went on TV after the debate to describe Reagan as turning in a thoroughbred performance in the debate. Not once did Will disclose his ties to Reagan, the possible use of the stolen briefing book, or his own interest in Reagan's performance. Not until three years later, when the facts came out did he finally grudgingly admit that there was an appearance of impropriety, though not any actual impropriety, and since that time has publicly stated that he'd do the same thing all over again, given the chance.

George Will is an amoral, corrupt, liar who should spend the rest of his days in total penury, dependent on the work house or public alms for his sustenance.

5. No, he simply tries so hard to appear to be an intellectual....

and try to find amazing metaphors that all have to stop and say, oh my god he's just sooooo articulate.

Truth is...he's simply apt to stumble on something that appears to be prophetic now and then. Haven't you ever had that happen now and then after a few too many drinks?

I take it completely out of context and would have used that statement to describe how Reaganism is completely out of hand and on a doomsday course today. Sure...perhaps our system was destined to move to 50% or thereabouts rate on the upper echelon (after Ron's first term), but it's completely gotten out of hand now. The capitalistic greed machine is so out of control it doesn't even care if the bottom falls out in the US for the middle class because THE REST OF THE WORLD!!! is still there to exploit&@!!. Stay tuned as we suck Canada and others down the path of right-eousness.

It's really quite literally a "screw the system" approach which attempts to milk whatever profits are available regardless of country, ethics, or human well being. "Growth" is everything. Hmmm....try to explain that one to a cancer patient.

In this respect, the new breed of Reagan-nit-wits (Limbaugh, Hannity, et al) who really represent the most narrow minded greed factor have co-opted the Reagan message for their own individualistic advantage.

The famous phrase "it's your money, you earned it" is the icon of truth that they live by, which they have taken to a level of the absurd.

If we could rescue Reaganism from these die hard A-holes...then we'd really be getting somewhere.

He is just upset that other people are intruding on to his turf of Reagan worship.For a while he was also a confidant of Nancy Reagan,going so far as to call Bush the Elder a lapdog.He likes those with power and money.In his opinion they can do no wrong.It is only the poor and the weak that draw his scorn.For a man who dodged the draft by signing up for the divinity school, he reserved his most scathing attacks on blacks who went to fight in Vietnam and died in disproportionately large numbers.He used to spout about moral equivalence a lot until the dirt on his marriages started surfacing.
