Patti Davis' Kerry Connection

This weekend's announcement by Ronald Reagan's daughter Patti Davis that she intended to take on the Bush administration over the issue of stem cell research isn't the first time she's found herself on the same page with Sen. John Kerry.

In a move that most viewed as coincidental, Kerry just happened to decide to devote his Saturday radio address to the stem cell issue at the same time Patti was penning her Newsweek piece on the issue.

But lo and behold, it turns out that Ms. Davis and Mr. Kerry aren't exactly strangers to one another.

Before long, her visits to Kerry's office - the senator was a bachelor at the time - sparked reports that the two were an item, something that Davis denied.

it constantly amazes me that pugs don't understand that men and women can have PLATONIC relationships. My field was male dominated and I had wonderful close relationships with many men that were strictly platonic - for years. Most of us still stay in touch.

If they were both single at the time of her visits, they could have had "relationships" elsewhere.

and before he married teresa so i don't see any problem with it. i can see patti being into him though since she is a liberal and the way she was openly opposed to her dad she would have had no issues being with a liberal democratic senator from massachusettes.

I can just see Kerry's people on the phone with Patti's people synchronizing Patti's keystrokes to match Kerry's speech patterns. Sheesh, these goons must think everyone lives on Blast Faxes.

6. Actually maybe it is that hard for them to understand

I mean sure we don't coordinate everything we do with every supporter but the GOP on the other hand has the Media, it's supporters, it's hate radio hosts, and it's politicians all piped in to the very same talking points. All of them are always saying the same thing so to them to conceptualize the idea of a free thinking society, well that might be way too much for them to comprehend.

7. I Can Almost Draw You A Map Now

The day starts with the first blasts on C-SPAN's Washington Journal and that incidious morning rag on Faux, then moves to Rush & Hannity on the radio...which is then picked up by others around the dial for the next couple hours. Add in "breaking stories"...fed to the CNN & Faux control rooms during the day and news is being manufactured.

Then at night you get the Tweetys, O'Reillys and Hannitys to spin it one further time to make sure that the point has been driven home as deep as it goes...turn the lie of the morning into accepted "fact" at night.

The scary thing is/was is how effective this system has worked for a decade, but seems to be misfiring as of late. Is this the motherlode finally played out or just a temporary glitch?

If we score a major coup and win the White House, take back control of the Senate and make up serious ground in the House, they may view 2004 as we viewed 2002 and reorganize their thinking trains.

I don't think they ever fail to be effective I just think that sometimes they forget which messages work best. All the Anti-Clinton rhetoric only worked to galvanize the Right. It wasn't until AFTER the stole the election that they figured out how to deceive the middle as well.
