| Did you hear during the 9/11 hearings that they NEVER tried to |
|
reach Bush on AirForce 1? NEVER DID! They could but didn't! Somebody told them who is the real president (Cheney) who was in the white house. They communicated with the WH but not AirForce 1.

|
to? During the hearings, Cheney was the only one who remembered a call from Bush authorizing him to send the intercepting planes after the flight that crashed in PA... NOBODY ELSE remembers that call and there are no RECORDS of the call.... hmmmmmm.

They mentioned the Cheney-Bush call but took great care to mention that nobody else recalls that call and there were no notes to corroborate the call.

| 17. What I heard was that Cheney told Rummy he had given orders to shoot |
|
down but that Rummy was getting conflicting reports.
It sounds to me as if Cheney *didn't give the order* yet told other cabinet members that *he did* give the order. He went as far as telling Rummy that he had a report of a plane being shot down and Rummy kept saying "I am not getting that report".
What in the hell was Dickhead doing in the situation room? Really playing war games?

Have you read Dick Clarke? He was running the show and Cheney kept hanging up the secure line and Clarke kept having to ring back. He finally got someone on the line and asked, "Who's the a-hole who keeps hanging up?" The answer was, "That'd be the Vice President."

so she could watch CNN.
I just about lost it when I read that part.
Also, according to Clarke: Condi just "stood there."

...was to have him conveniently out of the way while the plan was executed. Uncle Dick and Poppy spent the night of September 10 in the White House. Now why would the pResident's daddy just drop in when Junior wasn't there? And why would the VP spend the night at the White House?

... but Bush wasn't on Air Force One when notice of the first attack came in. It was, virtually, all over before he even got to Air Force One. He didn't take off until almost 10 am, and by that time, it was all over.
They could have gotten him, though, by land, cell or satellite phone at any time. That he wasn't on AF1 doesn't matter.

at 10 am, and Bush wasn't the quaterback or the coach on the sidelines.
We only knew it was over at 10am at probably 11am when all planes were probably accounted for and on the ground and nothing else (non-plane related) happened (which probably wasn't even clear until much later in the day).
It's not like there was nothing left to do that day after 10am.

I said it was over by 10 am. They missed the whole damned shot. Everything. And, it didn't matter. Bush was informed, whether he was on AF1 or not--that was the matter of the original post. It didn't matter. He got the news and sat on it.

| 22. I think the point of the original post is that it's amazing that nobody |
|
wanted to talk to Bush about what to do while he was on AF1.
Even if there were only 4 planes, and they were all down by the time Bush was on AF1, nobody would have known that, and Bush should have been on the phone constantly, talking to all sorts of people, digesting what was going on, coordinationg responses, and asking for intelligence.
If you're saying that Cheney knew there were only 4 planes, and knew it was over, that's another thing. But the fact is, any other president in the same situation (even Reagan with alzheimers) would have been on the phone, would have been making calls, and would have been demanding calls from Cheney and everyone else as they got information.

... or if Bush was on AF1. What I'm saying is that this is a red herring (whether Bush was on AF1 or not), which was the substance of the original post.
Bush was contacted immediately of the first event, and did nothing for almost a half-hour from that first notification.
He wasn't incommunicado. Everyone was in contact with everyone else, and still, not a single damned fighter intercepted a single hijacked plane.
That's all I'm saying.

...as human shields in a Florida classroom.
When Andy Card informed Bush of attack progress, Bush just sat there for 20 minutes listening to a story about a pet goat.
Bush did nothing, contacted no one, ordered no action and made not a sound while YOU were under attack.
As a potential target, he remained still and endangered the lives of everyone at the school.

| 25. Yes, that is the gold standard of research on 9-11 |
|
I think anyone commenting on 9-11 should have to spend some time in there. For instance, by the time he got to the elementary school, strange men had already tried to get a meeting with Bush.
By the time he got to the elementary school, three people had already been stabbed on the first plane, and two flight attendants had been on the phone with the ground over twenty minutes.
Lousy pilot? Right.
