'9/11' early for Gotham

NEW YORK -- Michael Moore ( news )'s "Fahrenheit 9/11" will open in New York next Wednesday, two days earlier than the controversial doc's June 25 opening in Los Angeles and the rest of the country.

The premiere engagement will play on the Upper West Side at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and in the East Village at Loews Cineplex Village, prior to an expansion to additional Manhattan screens with the nationwide opening June 25.

"The level of excitement and interest surrounding 'Fahrenheit 9/11' has been growing day by day," said Tom Ortenberg, president of Lions Gate Films Releasing. "The demand became so overwhelming that we felt it was necessary to bring the film into New York City early."

"The American appetite for this film has now reached a level surpassing expectation," added IFC Entertainment president Jonathan Sehring.

I sent them a polite email telling them how offensive I thought their campaign against free speech was.

Now I will have to send them a polite email correcting myself and thanking them for all they have done to promote this film! Kill them with kindness as my Grandfather always use to say of his enemies!

I previously sent you folks an email telling you how offensive I thought your campaign against free speech was. In a democracy you are suppose to have freedom to exchange ideas and opinions whether you agree with those ideas and opinions or not.

Well, I was wrong. I want to thank you for all of the free publicity you gave the film Fahrenheit 9-11. Since your campaign has gone public, I have talked to numerous people who didn’t show an interest in seeing the film now buying advanced tickets for opening night June 25.

I guess you haven’t realized that in our society if you try to ban something, it makes that much more appealing.

Thank you for your hard work, we “liberals” couldn’t have this much success without you!

there are only 422 screens mentioned since Fox and friends stared their email campaign to the theaters to have the firm pulled, so I guess 300 screens just do not need the GOP's emails coming in.
