| Michael Moore should release Fahrenheit 911 on dvd simultaneously |
|
This film is getting a minimal release (417 screens I have heard). Moore could REALLY get his message out if he released it simultaneously on dvd and vhs with the theatre release.

The DVD should be made available sometime in... oh, I don't know... October. :) Space out the effect it's going to have between now and then, and jam it into video stores RIGHT before the election. June 25th can't come soon enough! :)

| 8. My only fear with doing that (releasing simultaneously)... |

is that we, as Americans, tend to have VERY short attention spans... someone could see F911 and become OUTRAGED to the point of wanting to vote out Bush, but forget about it a couple months later. At least this way, the new media blitz of it's video release will RE-open any eyes that have closed in that time span. I see your point though as well.

it should slowly come out. Word of mouth will spread it much quicker. In three months by the time it is out on DVD it will catch those that did not see it in the theater

The most successful documentary of all time, Bowling for Columbine, appeared on 248 screens AT ITS PEAK!

A DVD/VHS release in mid-October might be more strategically beneficial. Imagine the hype, and the high-volume rage of the conservatives.

I think it's going to be really good getting large groups of people together to watch it together. It will install a sense of loyalty and maybe then we could this movement going!

If cockroaches can thrive without money, WTF are humans doing wrong?!
His post is about inciting awareness against the inhuman fascists in power, many simply won't show the film because it's doing what our Founding Fathers would have wanted. Or is that lost on you? (I regret the slur, but how does it feel like? Can we all be civilized once again now? )

1. We're not cockroaches. 2. Michael Moore needs to make a living just like the rest of us -- the film is being released and distributed not only to "incite awareness against the inhuman fascists in power", but to make money. Like it or not, we do live in a capitalist society. Besides, if Michael say, released it free on the internet or gave free screenings - he'd lose money and quite frankly, it wouldn't get this much attention, either.

Good thing you're not in charge of the studio :) Who would bother seeing it in the theater if it were out on video? It's not like it's a big epic cinematic experience. This movie is going to make a lot of money at the box office. And then after months of causing controversy and accumulating word-of-mouth it will make a lot more money when it comes out on DVD in Oct. :)

| 11. Don't forget the DVD extras... |
|
If they release in October, MM can add MORE stuff to the DVD release bringing it up to date re: the prison abuse, the Geneva Convention nullification memos, the censorship attempt, and all the rest of the fun and hijinx we have to look forward to in the next few months.
Also, the DVD release will give it an added "bump" of awareness and hype and talk show appearances...
And of course, he stands to make more money with a theatrical release AND DVD release, thus validating it in the "marketplace of ideas" as Ann Coulter would suggest.
Of course, this business of MM having Abu Ghraib footage and not disclosing it could get a little sticky.
