Are you in some way implying that after Bush met with Clinton and was supposedly given the above information, he should have done something about AL-Quadia. Is this not what is going wrong now a "preemptive strike," agianst Iraq.

You may be correct...that may be what he is suggesting? My interpretation was that he told Bush that bin Laden and al Qaeda were the biggest threat to our nation...Did Bush hear what he was saying? Should he have told him twice? Perhaps...now that we know what we know??

If bush had done something about it during the first few months of his term many people would get a skewed view of him. (side note, if Clinton knew these things why were actions not taken during his time in office) They would think this was just a sign of things to come that we will go to war because we simply do not like a person in power.

Forget war just a second. It was a reminder to be on guard. These are dangerous and unpredictable people. Perhaps Clinton should have hit back when the USSCole was bombed but by the time it was discovered who the responsible party was, they said it was too near the time to change power and they did not want to leave that mess for Dubya, the way Somalia was left for him. Then perhaps Bush should have not just forgotten about the USSCole once he took office. Just because Clinton was no longer in the WH did not mean there were no problems for the incoming Administration. Nobody leaves a clean plate when they leave the WH. I hope the Bush people did not think that. I hope they heeded the warning that al Qaeda and bin Laden were a serious threat. That did not mean you go to war - only that you be on guard- not flying off to a bunny hole in Nebraska with a phone that didn't work and no one could get you to give the order to shoot down the planes so finally your VP Cheney had to give the order but, by then, it was too late...Is that what you mean?

happened oct of 2000. they were still investigating it. something needed to be done, and bush allowed that to not be resolved. bush also told everyone to back off bin laden before 9/11. they thought the threat was Russia and china. so yes bush should have done something about the cole. and he should have taken bin laden seriously when his terrorist experts were telling him chatter escalated and he received his aug report. this was an ongoing affair from the embassy explosions in 98

1)American beheaded in Saudi Arabia

2)Bush/Cheney says Iraq/Al Qaeda relationship

3)Clinton slept on couch after revealing affair

I had to laugh and shake my head in disgust.

white male in the usa can relate to the sleeping on the couch with his best friend-his dog..someone once asked a black blues man if white guys could sing the blues,he responded when you come home to your double wide and find she took everything including the linoleum on the floor-ya got the blues..poor bill sleeping on the couch with his dog-there`s a real double wide moment
