Washington baffled.

Then the Saudi's very conveniently kiil the Al Queada guy a few hours after he supposedly beheaded Johnson.
Washington puzzled.

What the payment was, I have no idea. Debt forgiveness, some lucrative contracts in Iraq, a free hand in Chechya... could be almost anything.

But considering the fact that his statement fits ONLY with Cheney/Bush's story (contradicting his own goverment and actions) I really suspect some sort of pay-off.
