| Fahrenheit 9/11: Who has been able to get tickets so far? |
|
Edited on Sat Jun-19-04 12:07 AM by genius
In the yahoo groups people are calculating losses to Regal. One person calculated the loss in revenues to two theaters in a twenty miniute span as being over $3000 from the lost sale of 407 tickets that people and teenagers tried to buy. At the Regal theater where I was tonight, in less time than that, they lost 265 ticket sales and people were still coming to ask for tickets as I left.

| 2. Groups and people are going to theaters and asking for F 9/11 tickets |
|
Regal is no longer committing itself to showing the movie and it is losing a fortune in advance ticket sales.

| 4. It's one week from today. Most theaters sale advance movie tickets |
|
However, they are being really wishy-washy on this and Regal theaters that were committed to showing it have suddenly decided not to show it or went into the undecided column.

| 12. I've been working 75+ hours a week at my job. |
|
Good news: I've been making gobs of money.
Bad news: No free time.
I haven't been able to keep up with the news lately.

| 5. Tonight, people in my theater CHEERED for the F911 trailer. |
|
Out front, there was poster and a Latino guy with his wife and three kids walked by (they weren't going to the theater) and saw the poster. The husband walked up to it. He said, "Oh, F911 is showing!" The wife said, "No, not until next week."
This movie has got BUZZ and it looks like it has BROAD demographics.

several theaters have booked the film. I can't wait. I think I will see if I can get tickets tomorrow.

| 7. Just another example of "conglomeration" |
|
"Regal" buys independent theatres, and then becomes the arbitor of "what's ok for you to see"..
There are very few independent theatres of any size these days, so it gets harder and harder for "edgy" films to be seen :(

| 9. ONly one theater in OC got "Last Temptation" and none got "Cover-up" |
|
Edwards created a monopoly by buying up theaters and then, because it had financial problems due to a big fight among the heirs () after Jim Edwards (a Republican) died, the chain was eventually sold to Regal (another right-wing organization). They think they can control what people in Orange County watch.

| 8. I just purchased for 7PM show at my local Loews theater |
|
for opening day. I'm really pumped to see this movie.
Oh and I sent out my email to theater owners tonight.
And I even got the guts to email those idiots trying to boycott the movie telling them they're facists not Americans. Hopefully they don't spam the hell out of my email address.

and most of us have bought on line. Interesting about Regal. I could have sworn I saw one of their theatres listing it here in the Cities... I'll have to go back and check. We're going to a Landmark Theatre.... and I don't think they'll be backing out.

To ask them when F911 would be shown in my local theater. To date they have not responded to my e-mail. I'm going to drive 50 miles to see it and Regal can go pound sand.
