| Every Campaign Has Supporters Doing It So Let's Stop The Drama... |

Edited on Fri Aug-15-03 03:30 PM by khephra
Dean Supporters are bashing Kerry Supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Graham supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Sharpton supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Edwards supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Kucinich supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Lieberman supporters.
Dean supporters are bashing Braun supporters
Kerry Supporters are bashing Dean supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Graham supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Kucinich supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Edwards supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Gephardt supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Sharpton supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Lieberman supporters.
Kerry supporters are bashing Braun supporters.
Graham supporters are bashing Kerry supporters.
etc...etc...etc...
yadda...yadda...yadda....
I've seen despicable posts from the supporters of every candidate, except for maybe the Braun camp--and that's probably because of the small number of supporters.
IF you think the supporters of your candidate haven't crossed the line somewhere and are totally guilt-free, then please look closer. Everyone candidate has supporters who need to be taken aside and talked to by someone.
But that doesn't mean that you should group all the supporters of any candidate into one group. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all stereotypical supporter of ANY candidate.
All shit stinks....but if you're thinking that all the supporters in YOUR camp are guilt-free, then you better blow your nose, because it's plugged up and you can't smell the shit that's surrounding you anymore.

| 2. I have been wanting to say something similar for a LONG time. |
|
Thank you.
Also, a poster can just say something positive about his/her candidate and some people take offense.

all this garbage being flung hasn't changed my mind about the candidate I support, but it sure HAS changed my mind about DUers and DU, in general.

that we've all had our moments. I'm not exempt from being an asshole from time to time. I think everyone knows the type of poster that I'm talking about in this thread.

|
There are a few that make my blood boil and continually express views that are not discourse but rabid diatribes. I didn't come to DU for that. I don't mind disagreements but I do like to think that we are all looking for a thoughtful exchange of ideas that will get us all to where we want to be.

| 13. True we shouldn't be trashing candidates unless they |
|
are DINOS, and only one candidate qualifies for that, or Republicans. What we should be touting is what our candidate brings to the table that is superior to the other candidates IMHO.

as the wholesale stereotyping of the supporters of candidates that is getting to me. Candidate trashing is a part of the primary process.
But within the close confines of a forum like DU it gets unhealthy for people to go around bashing other supporters as if they're this hive-mind who thinks the same and does everything as one.

...mommy! The <candidate x> supporters are picking on me.
The stereotyping of supporters really tends to enflame all threads. In many of them, it isn't even about the candidates anymore, as just slinging generalizations about "their supporters". The slinging of terms like "Dean freaks" and those that use such lingo really raise my hackles. It's this kind of divisiveness that Rove relishes. Sure, call me some more names. You've seen the polls, you know DAMN WELL I'll support whomsoever is the Democratic nominee, so you insult me freely. It's rather rank behavior. I've seen far more <candidate x> supporters say they would NOT vote for Dean if he were the nominee than I've seen Dean supporters say they wouldn't vote for <candidate anyone other than Lieberman> if they were the nominee.
Friggin grow the hell up people. As Sharpton said, it's a little early in the cycle for all this sniping...

just might be the man you may support after the primaries.
I'm a fair and balanced, equal opportunity Bush* and Republican basher. I don't bash family, friends or lefties.

Dean is too good at using the internet, Kerry looks to much like a president, Edwards is too much of a Cinderella story, etc...
Yeah, you want more where that came from. You best step correct from now on, least I be brining another can of whop-ass
