inability to brook criticism. Don't dare criticize this President, or you're a...you know the drill. Also, the regular-guy, folksky charmer facade bothers me to no end.

...having read "Boy Genius" and "Bush's Brain," realizing that this is the man pulling the puppet's strings, realizing what he's gotten away with simply because we live in a world where if you are evil enough you can get away with anything.

I don't think that "George W. Bush" actually exists. He's a mixture of the failed aspirations of his father, with added touched of Rove, Hughes, Rumsfeld and Cheney. He's still coasting by on the few, fleeting moments of "regular guy" behavior he showed among the rescue workers during the 9-11 aftermath. Most of the pro-Bush segment of middle America can't get that image out of their mind. They see him with the bull horn, standing on the rubble, with his arm around that guy.
