I have not read Russert's book (and now I won't for sure). I always felt he was just a pumped up potato head, but this is really a great exposé. What a pompous prick that Timmy is!

As far as G.E.RUSSERT "doing (his) best" to answer callers' questions, baloney. I saw him on C-SPAN in 2000 where a caller complained about the media whores and including him in with Faux. It was perfectly clear what the caller was saying, but G.E. deflected the point and said, "The caller is mistaken. I don't work for (Faux), I work for NBC." Of course, the call had been cut off so that she couldn't respond and the C-SPANner (the dude with owl eyes, let him get away with it.

I've been reading him since '98, at least I think I have. The thing that is so discouraging is that he never runs out of ammunition. If he lives to be a hundred, our beltway whores will continue to provide him with something to write about.
OT: Saturday, Margaret Carlson thought Ken Starr was an outrage because she had seen F/9/11 and was outraged at what was done to Susan McDougall. Sweet Jesus, has 'liberal' Margaret been in cave for six years? McDougall was put in chains by the elves in '98.
