I'm fighting the Republican Party in this election by making sure it results in the least disruption in the continuity of democratic Democratic leadership.
I'll wait for the more democratic Democratic primaries and general elections to try to force my radical liberal will on California (if I do that now, I'll just end up with a Republican Governor).
There's a time and place for everything. As Chef says, it's college. But it also IS NOT the time or place to be trying to express super-liberal ideology.

about 2 hrs ago that Bustamonte is leading by couple points over stroid boy in polls. don't usually pay attention to polls but this made my spirits a little better - I pray he doesn't win this. Maybe, just maybe, more people are paying attention then thought????? Being there, what do you think of Bustamonte?

:-) NO on recall and Bustamante as back up for me. As much fun as it would be to have Larry Flynt beat Arnold, we Californians have to take this seriously and defeat this ploy by the White House to Republicanize our state.

lot of clear heads like yours. Beginning to think that CA people are dazzled by this imposter. Course that is how the media is portraying this whole thing (CNN in particular). He seems such an air head, a lot like our Jeb (oh Lord). Jeb can't answer a question either without looking towards heaven like he's looking for devine intervention, especially when he has been proven screwed which is getting more frequent every day.

The kid across the street is paying attention. He sees this coup d'recall for what it is and sees the opportunity to vote for someone he feels represents his interests culturally and politically.

Camejo if he stays in the race, Arianna if he drops out. Oh yeah, and I'm voting YES on the recall (rather than replacement) question.

We have to defeat this recall because it is the fascist right wing in our country using a loophole to gain power. Vote NO on the recall and whomever you wish as back up.
You guys have to start voting with your heads, not your hearts. We don't have the luxury of getting exactly what we want right now.

There are differences among Davis, Bustamante, and Ah-nold, but they cancel one another out. Arianna will win before Simon does, so I might as well just vote for her and stay the hell out of the main races, where I have nothing to gain or lose.

You mean a Bush that's pro gay rights, pro-choice, pro-worker to some degree...
And besides, if the T-101 wins, then the Dems will easily sweep CA in 2004 as a backlas. And even if the recall fails, DC is Democratic enough so that either it's safely Democratic or the whole election is safely Republican.

Remember Bush's promises before he got elected? Was he telling the truth? Arnold is a Catholic. I doubt if he is pro-choice or pro-gay, and if you talk to anyone who has worked for him he doesn't come across as pro-worker either. If he becomes Governor he will have to kow tow to the White House to get them to turn on the spigots or he will be left high and dry like Davis.

|
...(and it will be a candidate who NEVER could have gotten 50%+1 of teh vote in a general election. So, even if you like any of those other candidates, and if you value DEMOCRACY I don't see how you could feel happy voting for anything but NO and FOR BUSTAMANTE. So save you're politics for a general election and vote against tyranny of the minority in this one.

Excuse me?
Besides, again, the differences between Bustamante and Ah-nold cancel each other out, so I mgiht just as well vote for the candidate I really support.
And as for Davis, since he's not better or worse than Ah-nold and Bustamante, I'm going to vote on the recall solely according to what I think of Davis and not according to the replacement candidates. Given that, I'm going to vote yes because the guy's a flamin' Republicrat who allows Enron to rape CA. Unfortunately, Enron can't be recalled; he, however, can be.

victory.
And, again, I ask you, how can you be happy with yourself for voting in a way which will allow someone to win who never would have won Democratically (with 50%+1 of the vote)?
The only ethical way I can see to vote is NO and, to mitigate the damage to democracy, Bustamante.

won't even be the Condorcet winner amongst the top 5 or 10 candidates.
The entire purpose of the recall is to achieve for the Republicans what they could never achieve in the normal course of events in a primary-general election cycle.

And I thought that the ethics of democracy was to vote for whomever you liked the most and let the democracy be in the counting.
Besides, Democrat and Republican are just labels. In this election they mean absolutely nothing.

between idealism and pragmatism. I think fascism must be countered at every opportunity and if that means I vote for whoever I think has a chance to defeat them, rather than my ideological choice, so be it. I'm not happy about that but I will hold my nose and do what I think is best for this country and the world in general, given the choice.

|
I guess my message of warning is falling on deaf ears: IF THE RECALL PASSES THE BANKS WHO DO OUR BONDS ARE GOING TO PERMANENTLY LOWER OUR BOND RATING.
BILLIONS MORE IN INTEREST THAT COULD BE FIXING ROAD, KEEPING HOSPITALS OPEN, PAYING FOR FIREFIGHTERS.
BILLIONS IN UNECESSARY EXPENSE.
ALL BECAUSE YOU VOTED "YES" INSTEAD OF "NO"
YOU VOTE YES, CALIFORNIA LOSES. PERIOD.

But they also have a serious political content to them. I think the Lounge is for non-political type stuff like, "My cat just dragged in a dead gopher! Ewwww."
I thought the Gollum for CA Governor was satire perfectly suited for this forum, so there.
I'm actually gonna vote for Bustamante and no on the recall. I'd like to vote for Arianna but things are too dangerous to risk another Bush, which is what Ahnold would be. ABB all the way, kids.

is the only way I can keep sort of sane in these times.
I think the first battle was the Clinton impeachment attempt. We won that one but you're right, this recall is another battle for American freedom. I do take it seriously.

My evil twin would love to vote for Larry Flynt to solidify and symbolize this perversion of Democracy, but this is far too serious to mess around with.
No to Recall\Yes to Cruz!!!
And Redeye...
Exactly what has Davis done between last November and now that rises to the level of removal. What was the crime\malfeasance that justifies the recinding of a settled democratic election???
I know Greens want to win a major office, but this way??? Your gonna join Republicans in overturning legitimate election results? Damn, you'll have about the same level of legitimacy as the * Administration.
