I was in La Guardia- US Airways terminal, and this came on the screens scattered through the terminal. The sound was off on the monitor nearest to me, so I got up and walked to the little tv monitor near the next gate. I plunked down in a chair, watched the segment and returned to my gate. When I got back, a businessperson-type, complete with a suit, tie and briefcase was shaking his head approvingly and talking on his cell phone. Lila was, unquestionably, the heart and soul of the film. But the WTC attack with the theater in total darkness, with only the sounds of the planes exploding and people screaming, was a masterful touch.

We've all seen the images a thousand times and Mike knew that its impact would be lost if were done visually, so he used the audience's ears to fill in the void. I was amazed at how powerful it was.

For sheer effect - the screen blackout w/ the sounds of Sept 11, was just plain brilliant film-making. Everyone watches their own personal movie of that morning w/ only the sounds. From the very first decibel, I knew what was happening - I didn't need the pictures again.

The lady crying for her uncle in Iraq--WE are the bad guys. Americans better do some serious self-examination, or we may one day surpass WWII Germany or Russia in evil.

Same with the scene of our soldiers breaking into an Iraqi household. There is NO cause for us to treat other human beings like this! Michael Moore put a face on the Iraqi people. Our media, for the most part, dehumanizes or demonizes them (ex: 'insurgents')

Before that morning, I was a new mom with a 4 month old baby, disappointed that Bush had pocketed the presidency and rather worried about what he would do to the environment.

After that morning, I 'fell into the rabbit hole', sobbing in the first minutes as the idea of children orphaned (especially since many couples work in the same office building), and seeing the country turn militaristic and vengeful, and delving into Rasheed's 'The Taliban', then Chomsky, and others with a passion fired by the desire to protect the future, for my son. And friends becoming intense opponents.

Hearing those sounds on a dark screen compounded 3 years of agony into 2 minutes of tears streaming from a broken heart.

He still feels remorse that his buddies are getting shot at, but he has changed his views about being over there. He was on screen for just a moment during the tour of the civilian hospitals, but there was a little guy about my grandson's age and size laying on his back, with his left arm flayed open like a red snapper in a restaurant. He was on for just a moment in a very crowded scene of dead and wounded civilians so I couldn't tell what his status was, but he was laying there very quietly.

These are people who never meant us any harm, didn't do anything to us. They were defenseless against the American wehrmacht, unable to fight back, and they couldn't get away. If you're selling war as a noble endeavor, please pass by my door. Hurting and killing those people was done indiscriminately and for no good reason. It was also done with my tax dollars.

I hate it, but I want to see what I paid for. Those deaths, those wounds, those screams are mine. They belong to me, and I want them. I don't want them "sanitized" because they're too graphic or horrific. I need to show them to a lot of 16-, 17- and 18-year-old boys who don't know what they're getting into.

We wouldn't be at war.
The 10,000+ innocent Iraqi civilians would still be alive.
Our President wouldn't be gearing up to invade Iran and Syria.

57. I saw it for the third time yesterday....

The last two times I've seen it, I've basically cried from the very beginning when the cbc were f'ing heroes up there on that terrible, terrible day. I saw it as it was happening in real time too. There were so many scenes that I'll NEVER, EVER forget. I cried espcecially when:
Lila described in detail how she got "the call" telling her that her son had been killed and how she fell to the floor and had to crawl because she simply couldn't walk;when she read his last letter;when she sobbed outside of the White House - so many things about her story left me heart broken.

The woman in Bagdad who was hysterical and asking God why this was happening.

The family in Iraq whose home was invaded on Christmas Eve and they were sobbing saying, "he's only a college student." and that kid was on the floor with his hands tied behind his back....jesus christ....did anyone else feel like the U.S. was acting like the Nazi's when they saw this particular scene?!?!?

The young men in the army hospital who'd lost their limbs...it simply made me sick..sick to death..

The marine who said he wasn't going over there to kill more poor people like him.

The children and babies who's bodies were in the back of that truck and that man screaming.."who did they kill."

and, yes, the ending when Michael's voice was so incredibly eloquent when he said that our young men and women in the military only ask that we put them in harms way (or something like that) if it's absolutely necessary.

No other film has EVER effected me the way this one has. I sometimes feel like the words Michael used in the very beginning, "was it all just a dream." I honest to God pray some nights that I'll wake up and it really will have all been a dream...or at the very least...I've been in an alternate universe for the past few years and one morning soon I'll wake up and be in the other universe....the one that where up is up, down is down, and I'm proud of my country again. :-(

It took me a solid month to get over those images when I first saw them, and they took me by surprise this time.

Aside from that, the WTC audio and the images of the weeping, praying people were very affecting.

The sequence concerning the stolen election, though, just got me furious. I am not going to be satisfied until that injustice is healed. When I heard the latest from Congress -- i.e., that the GOP had, to a person, opposed bringing U.N. monitors in for the next election, I thought: That's it. The Republicans have made an enemy of me, period, and they've shown their nasty true colors.

And bless Corrine Brown for speaking the truth to those vicious curs.
