| No more "Support our troops" |
|
More have died SINCE Bush declared the war over than died in its initial assault, But I haven't heard "Support our troops" since May. I guess there is no political mileage to gain from it anymore. Remember Bush making almost every speech in front of military personel? He hasnt done it since May. He used to do it a couple times a week. I guess the troops don't support him either.

used to have this big assinine sign on his door "God Bless our Troops. We Love you!" with flag in the background, etc. I was so tempted to put up a sign on mine that said "No Blood for Oil". I guess now he doesn't love our troops so much anymore, nor does he give a damn whether God blesses them or not.
Maybe I should put up a sign that says "Support our Troops. Bring them home."

Because supporting the troops means not having sent them into an unjust and illegal war in the first place.

And for those people here who posted at the start of the war that they "didn't support the troops", they should be ashamed of themselves.

You're not the arbiter of all morality on this forum, so just shut up already. I almost don't even care if people don't support the troops anymore because of your constant whining and lecturing.

What concrete steps are you currently taking to support the troops? Besides playing disapproving school marm on this backwater message board, that is.

|
Is it because they're fighting for my freedom? Because they're not.
Is it because they're making the world safe from terrrorism? Because they're not.
Is it because they're making Iraq a better place to live? Because they're not.
Is it because they're just a bunch of naive kids who don't know any better and just wanted money for college? Doesn't sound like that deseves support to me.
Is it because they are just following orders? Sorry, can't support that.
Is it because maybe if we pander to Bush's stormtroopers than maybe, just maybe we'll get more of them to vote democratic next election?

What exactly have you done to "Support the Troops". Have you written to your Congressman or Senator asking them to give the Child Tax Credit to the military personnel that fall into the 10,000 to 26,000 dollar income bracket.
Have you called or e-mailed your Congressman or Senator to find out whether they support a cut in the VA Budget?
Please tell us what you've done to support the troops.
I've sent e-mails to the Congressional representatives of my area, but since they're on vacation I've gotten no reply. Perhaps after the Labor Day weekend.
My wife and I sent care packages to 2 soldiers, we don't know who they are, and that's not important.
My wife is active duty USAF, and I support her every day.
So please enlighten us who are in the dark, what have you done?

why don't you ENLIST? I take you are still young enough?
You want someone else to put his/her life on the line for your "freedom"; therefore, it holds that YOU should be more than willing to do the same for him/her. End of story.

Hard to disagree with that one, if you are a praying type. I hope they survive and come back not so dosed up with radioactive poisoning, and trauma that they are forever screwed for life.....all for oil.

If they make it back alive, they'll find their veteran benefits slashed to help pay for the richs tax cuts. They'll find social programs designed to help the elderly and the youngest slashed to pay for tax cuts to the rich. They'll find money promised to education slashed to pay for tax cuts to the rich. They'll find the facilities they need for years of medical attention for ptsd and uranium sickness closed and slashed to pay for tax cuts for the rich. They will have nightmares about the hellhole they were sent to die in for years so the b.f.e.e. couls steal the natural resourcesa of a sovereign nation. Yes, they're already screwed.

|
Just how does one go about "supporting our troops"? Do we send them cookies? Tell them to have a nice day?
We've got 150,000 soldiers over there doing a job they should never have to do, doing what they're told to do, being "good soldiers"--and it's totally wrong.
As one very articulate woman in A.N.S.W.E.R.L.A. put it in an interview with MTV on the night of March 20--"I support the troops that laid down their weapons and refused to fight this unjust, illegal, criminal war."
Amen.

Yes, I do feel sorry for the men and women who are in Iraq. While they are there I shall do what I can to ease their burden. However, I will never agree with the order that sent them to Iraq. When I see "Support our troops" and "United We Stand" I feel sick to my stomach. Get that human disaster out of office before he destroys the world.

| 24. support our troops: get rid of Bush |
|
I think dumping Bush & Co would be the best way to support our troops.
First of all, getting them into this mess with their idiotic unilateralism, now many other nations won't help our people create stability in Iraq -- thanks to Bush & Co's alienating our allies, our troops are bearing a heavier burden.
2nd, Bush & Co is allowing the troops to take a pay cut. Immanent Danger pay and family separation pay is in danger of being cut (if it hasn't already been). And I think there's also other cuts planned.
3rd, privatizing some support services has prevented troops from receiving even simple things like mail from home. Dopey conservative ideology has lowered our troops standards of living while in the field.
Okay, Americans, it takes more than flag waving and blindly repeating "I support the troops" over and over. We're all gonna have to DUMP BUSH & CO if we want to truly support the troops.
