Bush did not want to "swat flies." The administration was exposed for ignoring several warnings and not taking the threat seriously. THAT is what they took heat for, and rightly so.

"We" wanted the government to heed any warnings (and there were some, as we now know) and take preventative measures when they had the chance. They didn't.

"We" wanted the government to be responsive when attacked, not have some fool sit and listen to kids read about a pet goat. Then "we" wanted to have the leaders actually do something worthwhile--instead of sending Junior flying around the country, putting the Veep in an undisclosed location for months at a time and stonewall the very idea of a commission to investigate what went wrong with our warning and response systems.

"We" do not want a bunch of "be afraid, but go shopping anyway" messages popping up every time Junior's poll numbers drop. A warning is only useful if it tells you what to avoid--otherwise, it's just a way to instill fear.

Oh, yeah...and "we" wanted Bin Laden brought in instead of the hunt for him being dropped so Junior could beat up the guy who thumbed his nose at Poppy.
