Evidence that the Republicans are in trouble.

At least I think this is eviidence. Someone here is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Listening to Bush today, I was amazed that he said he was not going to call Congress back, just amazed. His lame reason for this...Congress can think about things during the month of August...was even more amazing to me. Certainly Bush would know that the first thing Kerry would do is criticize him for not calling for a special session.

The only way I can explain this is to figure that there are alot of Republican members of Congress who are in trouble at home and need this month desperately to salvage their political careers.

Anyone care to speculate?

The announcement takes the sting out of the Kerry criticism and
assertion of what he (Kerry) will do when he's president.

I think you're right about some Thugs needing to go home
and campaign. That's nice to know. Keeping Congress isn't a
slam-dunk anymore for the Thuglicans.

He is king ,you know. He doesn't want to muddy the water by having congress involved in his decisions!Besides, they ought to be out campaigning for him, not wasting their time with the peoples business!

I think you've hit it on the head; they're absolutely in trouble--BIG trouble--and they know it. Heck, when Laura Bush visited here in Wilmington this Friday, and was asked whether she thought Dub would win, she said--"Sure, I do". But she said it so hesitatingly and haltingly--shocking emotions from someone who should be showing the MOST confidence in victory outside of Dub himself.

I think they're even starting to worry about losing BOTH--that's right, both--Houses of Congress now, not just the White House. Here's Dub traveling around the country on our nickel telling us that we're sooo much safer, and now THIS kind of thing--merely underscoring that he has zero credibility. He's in trouble, and with people like Tom-getting-lawyered-up Delay in charge on Capitol Hill, who could blame top Repub strategists for envisioning the "perfect storm" thundering toward them?:eyes:

9. He is also going to look really stupid if something would happen

concerning the most recent terror alert. Either way, he is not taking action, Kerry can definitely pounce on this. We just issued a specific threat alert yesterday and today Bush decides to let Congress take the rest of the month off and not jump on the 911 Commish recommendations, huh?
