Bill Clinton remains an enigma to American politics.

His accomplishments during his two terms were impressive.

Moving from record deficits to record surplus.
Paying off the national debt.
21 million new jobs (this is 248,000 per month – the highest under any president)
Fastest and longest real wage growth in over 30 years
Lowest poverty rate in 20 years
Family and Medical leave act
Expanding Pell Grants
Lowest crime rate in 25 years (thanks to the strong economy)
Brady Bill
Lowest number of people on Welfare since 1969
Nearly doubled child support collections
Mental Health Parity Provisions
Child Immunization Rats at All Time High
Reduced threat of global Warming
…and many, many more.

The negative side of Bill Clinton is overshadowed with one item and it is an 800 lb gorilla. It is the sensitive issue of, as Molly Ivins put it, his ZIPPER PROBLEM. Bill is far from being the only powerful man to fall to this weakness. I have noticed throughout all my adult life that, for many women, power in a man is the ultimate aphrodisiac. How else can you explain how a homely pup like Henry Kissinger dated so many beautiful women in his time?

To this day I’m confident that Clinton would have been impeached by that Republican congress if the Republicans had had enough members that were actually true to their wives. It wasn’t a sense of fairness that led to that vote against impeachment but a fear of being exposed as a hypocritical womanizer.

On balance Bill Clinton remains the best President of my lifetime.

2. Interesting Concept

I do feel that the good in Clinton totally overshadows any negatives we know of. If you look at his record on job creation alone I could easily justify that this is a guy who deserves a little fun now and then.

Strange to remember how so many GOPeople claimed that Clinton was the reason that the whole nation was discussing oral sex when it was they, the conservatives, that drove that conversation from the beginning.

have a President who's "gettin' some" (though I don't especially care for the cheating on the wife angle), than one who has a stick so far up his....rump that it'll take surgery to get it out.

4. Agreed. All Working People SHOULD Miss Bill Clinton

Not so sure that they do, but it is self evident that his policies were a huge success to the business environment in this country. I would willingly overlook a personal harem to get the kind of economic growth we got with Clinton.

Sorry to inform you but the National has not been paid off. In fact it is climbing at unprecedented rate. I am not even sure if Clinton managed to pay down some of the debt. I know he was going to but that was for the next year and we all know what happened........ Bush*

You're right that one doesn't sound right at all. I must have mistyped that one. I'll try to find it again and offer up a correction/explanation soon.

I do notice that it says 'paying off the natl debt' and not 'paid off.' I am paying off my home loan, but it will be 20 years before it is paid off (if ever.)

That's only because the so-called Welafare "Reform" Act of 1996 tossed many thousands of people off welfare--which, of course, means those people are no longer counted as being on welfare.

So, what became of those people that Clinton tossed off the welfare rolls? Well, you know all those homeless people you see wandering around...?

8. ALL Those Homeless People?

Do you really think that Clinton's policy is responsible for 100% of the homeless problem. Strange I remember the homeless, bums, hobos and drifters being a part of city life for my entire life.

I know where you're going though, and I think we're on the same page. Clinton was a moderate that stole freely from the GOP playbook. When I hear the Bush gang crying LIBERAL on Kerry it doesn't stick because they wore out that charge on the moderate Clinton. They are like the party that cried LIBERAL too often.

Remain optimistic and positive by ignoring them, on the whole ...

They are mean and nasty ....

I appreciate what Clinton did, and I think very highly of him ... bu some people didnt get everything they wanted, and they get very snippy and shitty about it ....

10. On the Whole - The Best of My Lifetime

During the Clinton years, I fielded 3 or 4 calls for job recruiters each week.

Since Clinton has left. Only 5% of my resumes get any response at all and most of those are the canned, "we will file your resume and in case we have a need for your particular skill ...."

Did I lose skills??? Nah, I'm the same guy who got all those headhunter calls. We, as a nation, miss the economic stewardship of William Jefferson Clinton.

When he went on TV it occurred to me
