| OMG. CNN-HN says Kerry's Iraq Plan is like Nixon's "Secret Plan." |
|
I can hardly breathe after what I just saw. They showed Kerry talking about what he would do in Iraq and then spent a couple of minutes going over how Nixon had a pretend "Secret Plan" and what happened in VietNam. Then they said that there aren't any countries that are likely to help out with Kerry's plan. Then after the piece the anchor mumbled something like "Plans don't always work out."
NOTHING about how Bush started an unnecessary, disastrous war based on lies with no pre-invasion or exit strategy whatsoever.
Was it this bad in the 2000 election? I didn't have cable then so I can't judge.

| 5. I think they're talking about 1968 |
|
Nixon was very coy (as he almost always was when he was lying his ass off) during the 1968 campaign, hinting around that he had a "secret" plan for getting the U.S. out of Vietnam, and winning the war in Southeast Asia. He was pressed for specifics, but the campaign stayed on message that only Nixon could extricate the U.S. (some smart-alecs allowed as how that was true, since Nixon would not have to put up with the most virulent critic of U.S. foreign policy -- Nixon; and it wasn't me, so stop saying that!), and that the best way to bring home our boys was to elect Nixon in 1968.
Isn't it odd how the media can dredge up rather obscure comparisons from over 30 years ago to slam Kerry, but they can't remember what happened last month when Stupidhead makes his latest deathless pronouncement? "We're safer." "No, we're in greater danger than ever." "We don't know if we're safer or not." And on and on.

| 15. hate to say this, but I saw the interview in which he said this |
|
it left me scratching my head, cause that's EXACTLY what I thought
he had a point which made sense, that being he's on much better footing with foreign leaders than the chimp, but could not say what he'd do at this point
he just shouldn't have put it the way he did, cause I knew at the time that what is happening now was GOING to happen
he also refused to explain his changed vote on the 87 billion, in a most Dukakissian way (that's what George Will called it, moments later), when it SHOULD have been a slam dunk, cause it gives him the opportunity to REAM bush on his threat to VETO his OWN bill, when it came back to him with the 20 billion part as a loan, rather than a gift
VERY disappointing responses by Kerry

went headlong into Iraq with no plan? I know, there was a ton of intel and pre-planning done by our people, he just did not pay any attention to it. Maybe because he agrees with CNN's trained seal: Plans don't always work out.
If the plan doesn't work out then you have a backup plan, plus another to back that one up plus you have a brain so you can be flexible and move your ass to the beat of what's going on!

that an issue in this election will be who can be the better war president. Isn't that sad? It has come down to that.
I am very distressed over it--and must vote for the Kerry even though I am sick over his vote to invade, give Bush the go ahead to bomb the hell out of a country that was not, could not have been, a threat to the US at all, if anyone was using their head and not their genitals to think with. I will accept no excuses--not from Bush and not from Kerry.

It's virtually identical to Boobya's. I hope that he comes to his senses and quits pandering to the right.

Mind you I stopped watching Corporate TV Pravda long ago, but stay in touch by chatting with friends who still :puke: watch it and by reading DU and confirming what I can on websites or by word-of-mouth.
But the picture seems to be clear...MUCH WORSE than in 2000.
Which is simply amazing given the amount of time and effort people have put into giving feedback to the media that furthers my beliefe that Imperial Amerika is no longer free, techincally-speaking.

All the news shows seem to be slamming Kerry for not having a perfect, clear, fail-safe plan for completely fixing every problem in Iraq.
The Republican talking point that they seem to be parroting is:
"Our guy made the mess, HE should be given the chance to stay and fix it, however long it takes, however many tries it takes, however many people it kills"

| 16. in that statement you hold the kernel of what Kerry should say |
|
EVERY time he's forced to ask that questiom
something like this:
let me ask YOU a question, sir/madam
"WHO got us into this UNNECESSARY war, which MANY of our own highest ranked generals have said is exactly the wrong approach to the war on terror. We SHOULD have stayed in Afghanistan until the job of hunting down AlQaeda is finished. It was the PRESENT administration who got us into this quagmire, AND, had he followed my plans, which I presented over a year ago, we'd be much closer to getting out of there right now. As it is, the "president" is now doing what I suggested a long time ago, but with little success, because he waited too long to follow my advice. Don't try to turn things around and claim that my plan is close to his, when HE is the one who has flip flopped and come around to my way of thinking on this subject."
not very well expressed, but you get the idea
he needs to emphasize every time that THEY got us into this in the first place, and have done NOTHING right since they got there, so why on earth would we trust the driver who put us in the ditch, then drove us deeper, to get us out?

|
I'd like to know exactly what percentage of those against the war have served in combat versus those supporting the war,,,imagine what scumbags we Americans are overthrowing a murderous leader, and then doing our best to rebuild Iraq and turn it into a Democracy. we are as bad as the Nazi's hell,,,we are not perfect but we try our best over there to "win the hearts and minds" of the Citizens of Iraq etc.
Semper Fi!
p.s. I was at the WTC when they came down,,,how much horror does it take to jump to certain death! I worked the site as a Paramedic,,even if Saddam did not openly support the hijackers,,,his actions against his people and neighbors including his equally insane sons warranted action,,,by those who have the balls to fight for victims...

I'm so ready to work for a boycott. Fuck these guys. Here is my missive to their 'Contact Us' button for Headline News: "There you go again. You cover Kerry's comments about getting things straight in Iraq and then compare his plan to Nixon's 'secret plan' for Viet Nam. You are not the news, you are a mouthpiece for the RNC and White House. More than 1/2 of your viewers are Democrats and you can be sure that before too long, there WILL BE A BOYCOTT OF CNN. Count on it."
