I got email from someone forwarding a Bob Boudelang piece, with an "is this for real?" header.

You can sort of understand it with Bob Boudelang because RW trolls are often that incoherent and insane...but what gives BB away as satire is that there is an underlying structure and there are points being made. Your actual RW troll can't handle that.

My post was a response, in part, from an email from the arthur (MrBenchley or Smokey Sojac) after requesting permission to use some of his material in a satire LTTE for my small town ultra-right-wing weekly rag (I think the editor may be Bob's cousin; his half brother):

Feel free...there have been people who have thought Bob was "real" and written to agree with him or argue with him. Funniest, some right winger at a Delphi politics forum I sometimes frequent wrote a serious e-mail to DU warning them that Bob's column was really being written by a liberal.

The saddest day, on the other hand, was the Friday that Free Republic picked the column up and began discussing its serious merits....and many DUers began discussing Free Republic's discussion of it, apparently completely unaware the original was on the front page.
