When is the boycott of CNN finally going to begin?

After all of this time and especially after the Dem convention you would think an all in out boycott of CNN would be in motion. I'm talking picketing there their offices ( would be nice to picket their morning show in front of those nice large windows for the world to see ), writing commentary in local newspapers, contacting sponsors of their programming etc.

What is it going to take for everyone to show these fascist enablers for what they are? Surely we deserve and expect more living here in the United States of America. Is this what we are to expect for the future of our country?

If anyone is aware of groups or site that are in the process, please post. If not maybe though us getting the word out something can get rolling.

I have six months left on my satellite agreement and then I will cancel the basic package and just keep my international channel, letting them know it is because they don't have a package that does not include CNN. Someone on here earlier today said they wrote CNN to say they weren't watching anymore. I thought about it and realized I have sent them quite a few angry emails in the last few months at the unbalanced unfairness of almost everyone, but I wrote to each one separately as it happened. Pretty much all the shows. So today, I wrote to the main 2004 election email place and said as of today I am getting my news from other sources both online and I even heard that ABC was getting more fair than them. Doesn't mean I will watch them but I thought that might get them!!

If I was on the east coast I WOULD protest outside their headquarters with you. But I am in CA so I won't watch anymore. The last straw for me was when I heard about the stupid 15 min they talked about the balloons after Kerry's speech. Couldn't they give him even 5 min of glory before they side tracked everyone again?? I didn't see it because I was at a convention party and we watched on Cspan but I heard about it and the FU.. comment after...

I don't watch much TV, but after the horrible coverage of the dem convention, I sent the CNN short cut to the recycle bin and discontinued my email alerts.

For myself, I am concentrating on things that will actually win the election on Nov 2. A boycott of CNN would probably not effect much change in that short of a period. If enough people turn them off, they might get the message. After we win the election, we can work on restoring fairness to the airwaves. Ain't going to happen with W in office.

They had Bob Dole, Bob Novak, Tucker Carlson, and other RW luminaries commenting on the Democratic convention. They entirely bypassed showing some speeches. The criticism was over the top. There was no balance in the commentary, it was all negative all the time.

We tried watching C-SPAN and CNN the first two nights. On the second night, we said "That's it! No more CNN, ever." Watching the rest of the convention on C-SPAN alone was great.

34. I did watch the convention - with the majority of people here - ON CSPAN!!

And for some reason CNN had the least qualified idiots commenting on the convention and thought that allowing Republican hacks spew ad nauseum to provide balance was the right thing to do. CNN may or may not be going down a particular path - I find myself watching it less so it may be so - I dunno. But they didn't start this - Faux did, and the fish rots from the head. If Faux went down, and they are more susceptible due to their un-hidden bias, then CNN would learn and fix the ship. The current focus here is a complete waste of energy as we can't take them all down at once. The typical way that Repukes are able to take us down is because we won't follow through on an issue and we try to take out everyone we disagree with at once - an impossible task. In other words, we take on too much and lose focus because the problem seems to big. I think it's a self-fulfilling prophesy sometimes. I believe Faux is the root of all this evil - and the conservatives consider it their greatest treasure - why not focus our energy on the real problem rather that try to take out everyone we disagree with? And the thing that PISSES me off is that it is a different network we attack every week here on DU! Faux's "top ratings" have to be viewed in how they're gathered and what they represent. Faux created their own audience as their network growth coincided with the explosion of cable into virtually every household in the country. CNN stagnated during that same time. The Faux audience is very brand loyal and really shares little with "hard core political" viewers when there are surveys that compare them to those who watch C-SPAN, PBS or CNN.

CNN is still viewed as a credible news source and stories there will be picked up by "mainstream" press outlets far faster than anything aired on Faux. That's what makes them so dangerous.

Yes, Faux is despicable, but it's not hurting us anywhere near CNNservative is right now. And this needs to be spoken up and spread around...the more people who are aware of this bias, the greater scrutiny this network will feel. More can be said, but best left for other discussions.

The problem is some of us thought CNN was all that was left. I quit last year during the war coverage. Just could not stand it anymore. Relied on the internet for all my news since then. And as you know, there is a whole lot more news here than there anyway.

I did check in a little bit during the convention, but each time quickly returned to C-Span. I was mainly checking to see which speeches they were not covering and that was most of them. I did notice though that their coverage is more blatantly pro-Bush anti-Kerry than ever. So I am mostly done with CNN unless there is a major breaking story or Bill Maher is on Larry King.

The entire time I have had cable, I have seen no reason to tune into CNN, MNBC or any of the corporate cable news casts. I usually get my news from the net, Pacifica or my local Public Radio Station.

I never understood how people could watch the news all day long. All they seem to report is doom, gloom and fear. I also stopped watching the local news broadcasts because they sensationalize even the smallest incident. The news always seems to accentuate the negative. If it is important, plenty of the people I work with will tell me about it.

With that said, I think a major boycott of most of the media that is controlled by a small number of corporations would be a great idea.

...ever since my intelligence was insulted when that ditto airhead broadcaster cut off serious comment to announce that the correct understanding of the events of 9-11 sums up to this, "they hate us for our freedoms!" How clever; how phony. Howe utterly transparant. I did watch a few more polemical hours after that before finally pulling the plug wholly. The last nauseating episode was watching Paula Zahn interview Scott Ritter. After Scott made his case and they cut away from him, Paula editorialized that Ritter must've been drinking too much of Saddam's Koolaid. Well, that was that. CSPAN, CSPAN II, TWC, Free Speech TV, Sundance, IFC, and Turner Classics -- there's absolutley nothing else to watch.

But you can't fully escape the evidence of indoctrinated souls wandering around like so many mindless automatons from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. While listening to an NPR channel, a "left wing commentator" remarked that the reason we do not have universal healthcase in America is that the American spirit won't accept it, instead our spirits (albeit in declining health) adhere to libertarian notions of individual ownership and accountability. Poor? Can't afford the doctors bills? Tough, die! You deserve it. Nevermind the inequality of opportunities, the wildy variant life chances that depend upon the socioeconomic strata you happen to be born into. Tough. Die, useless eaters!

While listening to another NPR show where another left wing commentator, when challenged as to the veracity of Michael Moore's F911, backpedaled and said that it -- and discussions like it (meaning beyond the framed agenda of the "Official Story") -- are not proper political discourse. Not "proper" political discourse! So I guess proper discourse is limited to critiquing how well each of us recite the pledge of allegiance or how well our brown shirts go with our heavy boots.

Boycott them all, I say; cut the power cord. Read a book instead, surf the internet, get outside, and think for yourself...

in October, 2002. Ironically, it wasn't even politics that pushed me over the edge - it was the GODDAMN COVERAGE OF THE SNIPERS on the east coast. I DON'T MEAN TO YELL BUT WTF - I thought to myself - "these people are absolutely OUT OF CONTROL" - and I never looked back. I saw the entire convention on CSPAN and it was wonderful.
