A Hypothetical: What if this terror alert was legitimate?

I love it when the official story has more damning implications than the truth. This current terror alert looks bogus, but hypothetically, what if it was legitimate?

1) Long before the Democratic convention, the New Republic published an article quoting a Pakistani intelligence source saying that the administration told Pakistan that Bush would really appreciate it if Pakistan would make a push to capture some al Qeada types during the Democratic convention.

2) Pakistan staged a raid on a suspected al Qeada lair the weekend before our convention. After a 14 hour gun battle they capture some AQ guys.

3) Pakistan announced the capture four days later during our convention and not long before Kerry's acceptance speech.

4) For whatever reason, the AQ guys didn't seem to have destroyed all the hot evidence during the 14 hour stand-off. The Pakistanis captured a bunch of hot evidence that they shared with us.

5) On the strength of that captured evidence we sprang into action declaring a terror alert, announcing that Citicorp and the World Bank were in the verge of being blown up with truck bombs. We even went as far as closing the Holland tunnel to commercial traffic at midnight on Sunday with no sign of re-opening it for months. (if you don't know NY, I can promise that is a gut-shot to the NYC economy and quality of life.)

QUESTION: Taking all of that together, if the Democratic convention had been scheduled two weeks later would that have doomed NYC?
