On another thread there was a "poll" for Illinois Senate seat in which he was leading 72% to 18% or something similar.

They have no basis in reality.

My hometown paper was running a poll, a simple poll asking who would you vote for. The Chimperor was winning in a landslide. Some helpful DU'ers voted, and the chimp was soon behind. He is still behind. I think that is because those that saw the change began to have hope, and participated in the poll rather than just looking and saying to themselves that it was a lost cause. They may also, therefore, have more of an inclination to actually vote in November. I know, this may be wishful thinking, but it's all I have.
