This is one of the things that burns my Ass about Fundamentalists.
They miss the whole fucking point entirely.

Can't you come up with anything more original than the bad bad "organized religion" nonsense?
Some pretty terrific things happen we religion organizes. Poor people get fed, Habitat for humanity gets funds and workers to build homes, medical clinics get built in third world contries, schools are funded in Haiti, the RED CROSS gets funded and goes places where all others fear to tread.

Dogma is the main problem with organized religion. You may have your own ideal of how it works, but that isn't the way it really is. All those things are in the minority. Try hanging out with Baptists for a little while...

I have a problem with it whether its Christianity, Islam, the Church of Satan, or the Branch Davidians.
Unquestioning belief in anything is wrong. I have no problem with believing in god, but once it's organized, someone will inevitably use it wrongly to further their own secular agenda. So I CAN judge a thing by its inherent flaws....

And the food bit is recent history. Take a ministry run by a guy named Lester. Take a Navy surplus Reefer Ship and an ex-Brazilian Airforce C-130 Herky-Bird. fill 'em with food. Take 'em to Africa. Unload them, and distribute the food just like they do at rescue missions in our cities, i.e: No food until we hear "The Sinner's Prayer" coming out of your mouth...
Yeah, poor people get fed alright...

down the block was one of those midnight mission type places. They used to make the men who came there liston to a sermon before they would give them food. How do I know? Because the people who ran it used to pay my friend and me to pass out the hymn books.

God didn't divide people - people divided themselves into religions. I was raised Catholic, still attend service in a Catholic church because I like to worship in a church, but I don't agree with all of their beliefs. I think the important thing is to believe in God, and if you also believe in Jesus, that's an added plus. Just my opinion.

|
The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the trinity, existed from all time, equally. The notion that the Son was a later creation of the Father is a heresy that no orthodox church subscribes to. The physical birth in the flesh, to Mary, is irrelevant in this regard.

my personal belief (I am a Christian, baptized Catholic but no longer attend Catholic church) is that he still prefers the Jews. Once the divinity declares you His "Chosen People" that doesn't just go away.

Given that the Son has coexisted throughout eternity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, then in some sense it would appear that God is a Christian. As for your "burning ass", I don't think it would be just Fundamentalist Christians who would disagree with you.
Christ was God incarnate, according to orthodox christian theology. In some sense any christian would view God as a christian. What else would He be ? A Hindu, a Muslim, etc. That would make little sense.

Read the New Testament. Christ came to make a new covenant.
Personally, I'm not religous, but surely if a religion is to be ascribed to the Christian God, it must be Christianity.

And the Christian God you speak of (as well the Muslim God) is really only the same old Hebrew God that spoke face to face with Moses in the desert. There really is no such thing as a truly "Christian" or "Muslim" God.

According to orthodox christian belief, Christ did not come to overturn the Law, but to fulfill it. Through Him, God was making a new covenant, one that was open to gentiles as well as jews.
I also appreciate that Islam derives from Judaism, as well as Christianity.

| 28. Actually, Islam came from Christianity. |
|
The middle east had gotten converted to Christianity, and then everyone hit an 'interpretation' problem -- were the Trinity three separate people, and which one was in charge? It might sound stupid nowadays, but it became a "burning issue" for those who were deemed to be "heretics" in their understanding. The Prophet solved the question by saying, "Look, there is ONE GOD," and then declared himself a prophet because he figured it out. He also said Jesus was a prophet, and since everyone was already related to the Jews (who were kind enough to father Jesus) respect and tolerance for the "fore-bearers" of the Islamic faith was instilled. I'm paraphrasing pretty heavily here, but this stuff is detailed out in a book called "The History of Christianity." I can't remember the author's name. :) Ida

Our God is the only True God.
God is not a Hindu, a Muslim or a Christian or Jew.
God just is. IMO
I said Fundamentalist ( as in all Fundamentalist of any denomination )
God is NON- Denominational
Humans on the other hand are Fucked.
They mis-use & abuse the teachings of Christ every chance they get.
Adulterate them & turn them into Self - Serving Shit.

|
As someone who is not religous, all I can do is interpret religous beliefs on the basis of what each religion says about itself.
Your claim that "God Just is" is OK with me. Why do you have such a strong view that Christ's teachings are misunderstood by Christians ?, willfully so. On the whole it seems to me Christians understand Christ as he is presented in the scriptures and in the works of orthodox theologians. It seems natural that they would. Why should they acccept that their God cares not what they believe ?

This is a little off the subject, but I was flipping channels the other morning and there was an info-mercial about sending jews from old Russia to Isreal for the end of times? I thought it was a joke at first and looked to see if I had ended on the comedy channel, but it was real. It really bothered me. It was very creepy the way they were talking. Has anyone else seen this?
