| I think Mrs Reagan supporting Bush is a good thing |
|
call me crazy, but here's why. Nancy LOVES Ron and God knows she would fight tooth and nail to protect him--like she did his dad--however, with him speaking out so much now against Bush, he's a target for what we are beginning to see from the right, smear. I know Ron Reagan can hold his own, but with Nancy supporting Bush, it gives Ron Reagan a "cushion" from the attacks of the right, 'cause who would bash something deemed so honorable by the right as Nancy's son--who carries the same name as Ronnie. Sure, she is a republican through and through, but this one leads me to believe she is thinking more than we realize.
This isn't something that is "overt" but more "indirect". Come on people, Nancy Reagan LOVES her son MUCH MORE than she would like to see Bush re-elected. She knows how to play the game:evilgrin:

| 2. Nancy Reagan is grieving and probably exhausted. |
|
It is unseemly that Bush would ask her for a political endorsement at a time when she is so vulnerable. His putting pressure on Nancy Reagan so soon after Ronald Reagan's death is yet another sign that Bush is (a) desperate and (b) totally insensitive and overbearing.

| 5. I agree, but I think she is strong enough to have turned him down |

if she didn't want to meet with him. Unfortunately, I think she supports Bush because she has shared most of his Republican values most of her life. It's too bad she doesn't learn from her children, but many of us have parents who won't listen to reason!

I think you might just have something there---insurance also in the case that Ron is smeared, Nancy has more credibility in denouncing it since she is publicly now "on board with the program"
Smearing Ron now will turn a certain Reagan-Republican faction

| 6. I agree...Nancy has got to be torn...She should know Bush is using her |

Her son is fighting for something that many have saved her husbands life, it may save his life and her grand-children's life. I wonder if she knows that Alzheimer is hereditary.

| 7. Nancy Loathes The Bushes and They Loathe Her |
|
To the Bushes, Nancy is just lower-class scum.
To Nancy, the Bushes are old-money assholes.
Know what - they're BOTH right!

If only Nancy were a Democrat. She can stop Bush's evil reign of terror faster than you can say "Compassionate Conservatism".
