Vote for Change tour: Is there going to be big time Voter Registration

I read about it at the moveon.org site and apparently the proceeds will be donated to ACT.

But what of registration? Lots of first time voters to be had...


Any Jersey/PA folks made their RW Springsteen fan friend's heads explode with news of this tour?

Howard Stern should promote this tour and have Springsteen and some of the others on his show, or appear at a few concerts.

1. I sure hope so! I keep hearing the Pubs are doing lots of it!

I've heard it on the news, and on the talking head shows that the Pubs have recruited a lot of their followers to put boots on the ground to go door to door getting people to register. Every time I hear it, I wonder why the Dems aren't doing the same thing.

This concert would be a great opportunity to do some, but I think we also should do the door to door. Time is running out. I think you have to be registered (in most states) by Oct. 1st.

3. Cut off for voter registration in my state in October 12

I noticed the MoveOn tour ends on October 8 so I figured it was timed to end before the last day to register. I had the same question, will they have people there to register voters? If not, its pretty dumb.

In my state there is a door to door voter registration effort underway in heavily democratic neighborhoods. Its our congressional candidate doing it. My son is in charge and has registered over 100 new voters so far (proud moma here). He's got all his friends (even a hopefully former Nader voter) helping him. It kicks into full gear in a couple of weeks when school starts and he gets an influx of interns from the University.

They are keeping the names of everyone who registered Dem and will call them on election day. They don't intend to register Republicans but don't refuse to.

I'm in the state with the fewest Dems in the nation so it doesn't matter here but we do have an awful republican running for re-election as mayor and it might bring out lots of dems in the county. (The dem mayoral candidate is Dean's cousin, he came out to campaign for him a couple months ago.)

4. I don't know what state you are in, but there's not many Dems in

Georgia where I am. I'm afraid to put a Kerry sign in my yard because I'm not sure how far the neighbors would go when they're really pi**ed off. Tell your son thanks for all his work!

2. man, i hope so

they would be completely dumb not to register people. all these donations are fine and dandy, but the biggest impact would most likely be had by registering people to go out and make a difference.
