Just saw THE HUNTING OF THE PRESIDENT, and I'm fucking pissed off!

Every time I think I can't possibly hate America's right wing more than I already do, something or somebody proves me wrong. Today, that "something" is the documentary film THE HUNTING OF THE PRESIDENT, about the right's decade-long crusade to destroy Bill and Hillary Clinton. If there were a known freeper within 20 feet of me right now, I'd punch his teeth right down his fucking throat! :grr:

During Clinton's presidency, I often voiced my frustration at what I perceived to be the man's inaction or insensitivity. Turns out, Clinton wasn't inactive or insensitive at all; rather, he was preoccupied with trying to fend off the never-ending attacks upon his presidency from those dingleberry-encrusted-asshole-munching cockroaches that comprise the Taliban wing of the GOP. All things considered, it now amazes me that Bill Clinton was able to accomplish as much as he did with all those parasites attached to him!

So I offer this public apology to President Clinton for the negative things I said about him during his eight years in office. And it pains me to think of how excellent a chief executive he may have been if all those hate-filled, self-serving drinkers of maggot puke on the right had left him the fuck alone and let him do the job he was twice elected to do!

I sincerely hope that John Kerry and his top advisers see THE HUNTING OF THE PRESIDENT as soon as humanly possible. Perhaps it'll wake them up to what they need to do to get the man elected. And once that happens, the film could serve as a reminder to John Kerry to watch his back every single minute he's in the White House. Because I seriously doubt that any of the puppy-molesting filth on the right (except David Brock, bless his soul) learned a thing from the Great Blowjob Crisis of 1998, except to try even harder to lynch the next Democratic president.

On the positive side: thanks to this film, I have added another individual to my personal pantheon of heroes: Susan McDougal, the Woman Who Wouldn't Talk. Love ya, Susan! :yourock:

I couldn't even finish it. I don't know if I could handle The Hunting of the President. When Clinton was president, I didn't like him at all. My father HATED Clinton. He spent a lot of time listening to Limbaugh to build and build that hate. (My father is dead now.)

Now that I know what Clinton went through, I'm willing to cut him some slack. And considering what the chimp has done to the country, I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

and it pissed me off even more than I was already at what went on. The thing that struck me the most about that book is how racisist so many of those people were that were out to get Clinton. Don't know if that came out in the movie but it sure did in the book - and the fact that these racist pigs caused SO MUCH TROUBLE made me even madder

That's what Bill and Hillary should have done in the first place, but they were too polite. From now on you can take your polite and Cheney it. This is war and anybody who shows up with a grenade launcher near Kerry is dead meat.

Anytime anybody ever says anything critical of President Kerry, tell them to be respectful of the President, that they're unpatriotic, that if they don't like this country they should leave, and when you're done being polite, knock their stupid brains out.

By the way, right-wing domination of the media seems to be coming to an end. Clear Channel here in San Diego, a so-called "conservative city" (it isn't), will be broadcasting Air America Radio on KPOP. 1360 AM, starting tomorrow. It seems that in buying up all the media, the right sort of overextended themselves, and have been losing a lot of money. They had it to lose, and they made their billions war profiteering and looting our treasury, while their paid propagandists cheered them on, but very few people listened or bought anything from their advertisers. Come on now, you can blame illegal aliens all you want, but when you ship our jobs overseas, how do you expect us to buy stuff? The morans may be loyal, but they're also unemployed. And now that they've shipped all our jobs and money overseas, the fat cats on the right will soon be moving abroad themselves--they may be vile and hateful, but even they can read the polls, and they know they can't enjoy their ill-gotten gains in jail.

Wouldn't it be nice if somebody appointed an independent counsel to investigate Richard Mellon Scaife, and he refused to answer some questions and spent a few years the way Susan MacDougal did?

over to see it...but it's a #1 Priority for me. 15. I just loved Claudia Riley in THOTP

Get ready, DUers, for a lady who doesn't suffer fools gladly. She's mentioned in the Lyons/Conason book, but she really stands out in the film.

And I just hated what they did to Susan McDougal. It's so typical of the bullying mind-set of these right-wingers. "Und bist du nicht willig, so brauch' ich Gewalt." (And if you're not willing, I'm going to use force.)

And that sniveling Ken Starr and co. wasted millions of our tax dollars on this free-floating, pick-something-to-investigate project.

And I shame on the gutless, whorish, totally compromised Washington Post for not having the brains, sense of proportion, and moral clarity to treat the Whitewater investigation with the contempt it deserved. They allowed their knee-jerk hatred of the Clintons (which persists to this day) to color their coverage, and they've never really recovered. It's not surprising that WP management let Bush II get away with bloody murder over a whole list of scandals; they speak for the powerful, not the people.

16. I thought I was going a little crazy when I first observed the war against

Clinton. Thanks to the columns of Conason and Lyons I retained my sanity. Sentence by sentence, as they learned, they shared. I'll never forget the Lyons article that explained Whitewater and the fact that the U.S. Government had already declared that the Clintons weren't guilty prior to Starr and Scaife and Tyrell orchestrating the hunt and war that had the blessing of the cabal. Remember that the some of the top brass at the Federalist Society, C. Boyden Gray and Edwin Meese, would go on the talk shows and expose their roles in the hunting.

In spite of watching every detail I could on TV, the papers, and the internet, I learned from the book. No one sued Conason or Lyons. And Lyons wrote those articles in spite of being out of step with most of the other staff at the newspaper he worked for - the Arkansas Gazette.

When you've read through all the books about current events - put their book on your reading list.

I can't wait for the movie.

And about the promise to bring honor and integrity back to the WH ...yes, they lie and steal and continue to assassinate - with their suits and ties on. They are suit and tie criminals.

Well, people in the rest of the world see through it all - only the eyes and ears closed imbeciles in our country believe the lies and approve of the thefts.

Near the end of the film, we get a "Where Are They Now?" segment on the major characters. It mentions that Paula Jones lost a celebrity boxing match against Tonya Harding. When we get to McDougal, the caption reads, "She wonders if the person who arranged the boxing match for Paula Jones could arrange one between *her* and Ken Starr." :evilgrin:

27. History will judge Clinton as one of our most effective Presidents. Like

you, Clinton was too moderate for me at first. But as the right kept going after him over fabricated "scandals" I came to admire him a whole lot. For eight years we had more peace, prosperity, and progress than we had in decades. The economy improved for all income classes, especially the poor. The country moved forward into the twenty-first century in most every area. Far fewer Americans lost their life from terrorism than under reagan, bush sr. or dim son. And he accomplished all of this while under a never-ending, withering assault from the enemies of democracy and America, along with their accomplices in the media. How he was able to not only govern, but govern effectively, is one of the great wonders of American history. Even after the Blowjob Crisis and impeachment he was able to do his job well. Without a doubt, Bill Clinton is, with all of his weaknesses, an exceptional human being.

I saw the movie when it opened at the Angelika in New York. Joe Conason, Gene Lyons, and the film makers spoke to the audience for 30 minutes afterward. Joe Conason is one of my heroes. After college in the 70's I moved to NYC and was a devoted reader of the young Joe Conason in the Village Voice.

BTW, I love your line "the Taliban wing of the GOP." I hope you don't mind if I borrow it now and then.

Loved your post. I was a Clinton supporter and Clinton defender from the get-go, so my loathing of the GOP started early. But it wasn't until I read The Hunting of the President and Jeffrey Toobin's A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President that all the pieces of right wing shit and their machinations came together.

I have pre-ordered the Hunting DVD since I doubt the film will come to any theaters in the stupidly GOP state I currently call home. I can't wait to see it ... and then maybe I can. I know I'll only be further enraged all over again.
