| Lovely Anti-Muslim Hate mail... |
|
Got back from a weekend away and found the following in my in-box from my father's second wife.
I am planning on sending her an email asking that she refrain from sending me hateful and ignorant emails, but I thought someone might have something more clever to add!
I do plan to point out that EID is not Christmas and that there are many patriotic Americans who happen to be Muslims.....just not sure where else to go.
Thanks!
DON'T BUY IT
How ironic is this??!! They don't even believe in Christ and they're getting their own Christmas stamp, but don't dream of posting the ten commandments on federal property?
USPS New Stamp (Shows image of proposed EID stamp)
This one is impossible to believe. Scroll down for the text. If there is only one thing you forward today.....let it be this!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of PanAm Flight 103!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the Marine barracks in Lebanon!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the military barracks in Saudi Arabia!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE!
REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001!
REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks!
Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class holiday postage stamp.
REMEMBER to adamantly and vocally BOYCOTT this stamp when purchasing your stamps at the post office. To use this stamp would be a slap in the face to all those AMERICANS who died at the hands of those whom this stamp honors.
REMEMBER to pass this along to every patriotic AMERICAN you know.

I didn't even know about it, but now that I hear there is a boycott campaign, I want to get some to make conservative white men mad.

All religions say the same basic things. How people interpret them is another matter. Even in the most just society where all people are allowed o participate, we'll still have some lunatics blowing things up. It's about perception of the law, not always the law itself.

| 6. I am ashamed to say that I didn't denounce this e-mail openly. |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 06:59 PM by CBHagman
An old friend of mine forwarded it from someone she knew. I had already read about Grover Norquist's moronic complaints about the stamp, and in response I'd gone out and bought the Eid stamps, including extras to send to friends of mine who love beautiful stamps.
I debated responding to the e-mail but couldn't come up with a reply that I felt sounded right. I simply deleted the crappy thing, to my great shame.
Anyway, if you go to the U.S. Postal Service website, you should be able to look into availability of the stamps. The post office has even advertised the stamps as part of their holiday stamps feature (a collage of Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and other stamps).
The Eid stamp is a lovely stamp, by the way -- deep blue background with gold script.
On edit: Those of us who went to school here in the U.S. spent most of our history classes learning all the different ways "Christians" killed Jews, Muslims and each other, from the 30 Years War to the Civil War, from the executions of so-called heretics to the Crusades. I don't think Christians have any right to lecture Muslims about bloodshed.

Gee, and I thought he spent a good portion of his manifesto rattling off on the dangers of leftism, feminism, and political correctness.

But I thought it was more about thge evils of corporations, technology and their impact on the environment. If that that's what was in the manifesto,
can we agree on right-wing enviro-nut?

That is my clinical diagnosis after having waded through far too much of his crazy-ass manifesto. Makes Charles Manson look pretty straightforward, really.

kind of thing, and start in about the need for profiling and that shit, I ask them what profiling would have stopped Timothy McVeigh or Eric Rudolph and that usually shuts them up good. How conveniently people forget that!!!!

Hate in action?
Good Americans always have to have a target...Irish, Italians, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexicans, fureners of all kinds. We're so perfect aren't we?
If we never learn, where are we going to end up?

First off this is a very hateful email. Is it really in our best interest to spread hate? Is it a Christan thing to do? I generally don't respond to these kinds of emails, but this one struck a chord with me that made me feel compelled to respond.
Second: We don't blame all Christan's for terrorist acts committed by other Christians. Timothy McVeigh, for example, killed 167 of his own countrymen, he was a Christan. Should all of his faith be held responsible for his action? What about the men who kill doctors because the doctors perform medical procedures with which they disagree? Or the fundamentalist women who kill their own children because "god" or "the devil" tells them to? The Unabomber was a Christian too.
Should all Christians be judged on the basis of these people? I would say not, nor should all Muslims be judged on the basis of the actions of a small subset of people of their faith.
Do seven attacks over the course of twenty odd years mean that we should condemn 1.5 billion people who never attacked us? How far back does the statute of limitations on this go? Could they still be getting revenge on Christians for the Crusades?
In the end, my point is that we don't need to be divisive and hateful toward one another, we need to forge understanding among nations and faiths. Understanding is the way to end hate, not more hate.
(then info from Snopes and a link to it)

but decided against it because people tend to tune out when his name is brought into things.
I did consider it though! I had also planned to mention that not only was he one, but most of his supporters as well as the millions who stood by and watched their neighbors murdered. I just figured that it was one step too far and would cause her to miss the point.
Oh wait, she probably will anyway!

Ask her if she is aware of the good Christian acts of the Ku Klux Klan? I have many Christian friends, and I think they would be very upset if ALL Christians were "painted" as Klan. Not all Muslims are terrorists! A very simple reply to her would be "hate is hate and it knows no religion, gender, sexuality, race, or national origin!"
Brightest Blessings!

| 26. A cousin of mine sent me that same email |
|
about a year ago. My blood pressure went up so high, I had to shut down the computer and walk away from it. My cousin claims to be such a good church going Christian. And then she sends me HATE mail. I wanted to send it to her church and have whoever is in charge explain what is wrong with this email. But I have no idea of which church she goes to. On top of which, where she lives, everyone in her church probably buys into this crap.
I never did a 'snopes' on it. Bet they have something.
