| Can anyone explain to me how Bush has "Half" of American's support? |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 11:51 PM by noahmijo
Gee since when did American become a land of half of her citizens being ignorant redneck racist thugs who could care less about being mugged just so long as that law to "ban queers from a bein married" gets passed?
I refuse to believe it for a second. Those polls can kiss my ass.

...this afternoon, and caught about 45 minutes of the Tom Leykis show. I've never heard such a unrestrained gaggle of idiots, droolers and morons assembled in one virtual space before (unless you include Free Republic).
Hearing this show left me satisfied that half of this country is either drunk or developmentally disabled.

Half of the people in the world are "hunters & gathers" and the other half are "nurtures".

|
and more to the point, hunter/gatherers tend towards a much greater level of egalitarianism than our cancerous capitalist society. I'll take hunter/gatherers over american businessmen ANY DAY. :-)

That's what I meant to say, but it still seems to me that half of the people in the world are wired 180 differently. Genetically or environmentally caused, I just can't figure.

Just acting as if everyone that disagrees is an idiot isnt really conducive to swinging people over to your side.
Act holier then thou and election after election will be lost.
Remember, they think the same thing... that were stupid idiots that are brianwashed as well. Its called bias and we all have it.

Most people will need more then "well he/she/it is stupid" to convince them to change their positions. Most people are VERY set in their ways (all people maybe?) and are incapable of seeing the world differently without some powerful voodoo to back it up.
They have about as much difficulty switching from being repugs as we do going the other way. As for the undecided... I dont think their are many in reality. I mean, if you havent got an opinion on which way your going to vote by now, you dont have a pulse.

Boosh lied about WMD.
boosh ran up the largest deficit EVER.
The only thing you can say about his compassion is that it is conservative, very conservative.
Some people don't believe these three simple things because they are idiots. There is no other explanation.

if my Democratic guy stole the election, crashed the economy and sent young soldiers off to die for NOTHING, with the full support of party members, I would have no problem abandoning ship.

to the extent that a lot of people pay attention, they turn to the so called "news" channels. As we all know, these whores have been building up Bush's image for over 5 years now, while at the same time covering up his moronic statements and concealing his egregious policies.
Just yesterday I told a neighbor about the overtime rules. She wouldn't believe me until I went home and printed out some info on it from the web. To many people, Bush is the character that they've had marketed to them- a strong, decisive leader willing to "fight the terrarists," and even a compassionate conservative.
So long as this image holds (meaning so long as the Dems and the 527's don't challenge it with the damning facts) that's the perception people will have. Some people wil never listen, of course, but many others will- if we can just get the message out to them in the medium that they're most comfortable with- TV and radio.

If you hear the same thing over and over, no matter where you are, then you think what you're hearing is right.
I've been back in Tulsa since the fall of 89. M Malloy at WLS, bartcop, salon, MWO, and finally DU saved my sanity. I learned I was not alone.

I think that one of things being overlooked here is related to the original question. I kept wondering why so many people could not see the HUGE mistake in invading Iraq.
To get people to admit that the Americans (and others) that have died for no good reason would be more than they could handle. I believe that many who support Bush are unable to come to terms with the horrific nature of what our government has done. It is much simpler to support the war (and Bush policies) then admit we have blundered so badly.
Anyone agree?

It's more like 20%. That's why getting people to register & vote is so important. The GOP money machine have spent billions and billions of dollars over the last 30 yrs to DIScourage people from voting, because if more people vote the more the Democrats will win.

the polls are skewed.
I am in NE, and I cannot tell you of ONE person I knowthat supports bush now, as they did 8 months ago. If Nebraska is a fight for them, they'd be lucky if they have 25% across the nation....:)
