How Much $$ Would The Media Lose If It WASN'T Close?

Do you think they would always spin every election as "close" because they have to invest so much in covering it -- how much money would they lose if this thing was a blow-out?

Honest to God I can't imagine Shrub winning with the mess he's made of everything. And yet Kerry pulling ahead in many states (using the pro-Bush "likely voter" numbers) is always "slightly ahead" or "within the margin" or he got "no bounce."

He's gone up SEVERAL points across the board in the last year but never seems to get a "bounce" and Shrub's approval rating has been cut in half yet he's never portrayed as struggling/desperate, although he definitely appears to be both of those things to me....

I just think the media needs a horse race and so they will have it, no matter what.

Bush is toast.

Kerry has the momentum. It will take a big event to shift it back to Bush, hence the fear of the "October Surprise". But at this point, even catching Osama won't change voters' minds.

Kerry has the lead, and the lead is growing. It won't be close.

4. Kerry Opposes Media Consolidation -- Media Declared War on Kerry

Big Media wins big if Bush* "wins". They can gobble up more
stations and newspapers and get even bigger.

So naturally, they do everything the can to help him along.
If Bush* gets a few points ahead after his convention,
the media will be predicting a Boosh landslide.
Remember how long he remained a "popular wartime President"?
That one doesn't pass the laugh test anymore, but they kept
it up well after * fell back under 50% in the polls.

If they were that interested in the horse race they would have
had more convention coverage.

They are only interested in insuring Boosh's reSelection.

Does anybody know what CSPAN's ratings were for their
excellent convention coverage?

8. This is THE reason the media is touting this as "close"...

It's all about ratings and the bulls*&^ spin that Bush and Kerry are neck and neck when the truth is polling data does not take into account anything except "likely" or "registered voters".

As Michael Moore correctly points out, the number of 1st time and occasional voters will sky rocket on November 2nd. Bush is screwed because their hatred of his lies, bad economic policy, and the war of course will bring them out in droves.

Cnn and gallup can't bring themselves to do a poll of these Americans. If they did, Kerry would be up by 25-30 points.
