It's not the military record that influences my vote. (I was perfectly happy with Clinton, even though Dole had a more respectable military record.) On the other hand, it's just another reason to hate the fucking shrub.

For example, Clinton -- no service record, but I didn't care -- he was best qualified for the job. Gore was the best qualified in 2000, and he had a service record, but it didn't become much of an issue that year.
Kerry is certainly the best qualified this time around, but the GOP has made his service record an issue, so it does influence me to the extent that Kerry has one (a distinguished one, at that), and * does not!
