anger tends to be more of a driver towards action than any other emotion... embrace your anger, acknowledge your anger, love your anger... then use it to kick some Texas ass out of Washington!

I will distract you with good news.
My husband used your technique of influencing repug voters with factual news stories today and it WORKED! One of his young co-workers was asking about the swifties, so my husband printed three news stories from reputable sources and just handed them to him. The guy came back later kind of shocked at the audacity of the lies. So good work matcom, we couldn't have done it without you!

| 15. OMG... you're right, I watched it. |
|
This is a topic that should have a thread of its own (if it doesn't already). Oliphant two-stepped all over O'Neill and outed his nasty agenda, dating all the way back to the Nixon days when he was recruited by Nixon to go after Kerry. It was a thing of beauty to watch. I can't say I've ever seen Oliphant on TV before, but I'll surely never forget him.
Oliphant chewed O'Neill up and spat him out on the ground like some disgusting, used up wad of cheap chewing tobacco. Woo Hoo!!!

| 11. Lou Dobbs... the enabler. |
|
I have come to have a modicum of respect for Lou Dobbs because of his apparent fairness, but just having this CaREEP on tonight... Oh Gawd!!! Also, Dobbs seemed to be just a little too "tolerant" of the guy's position. Dobbs did little to nothing to rebut or refute his lies. He actually lent him an air of credibility IMO.
He did have that reporter (also named Dobbs) on who sort of gave some negative feedback on the Nam-Scam group.
However, Dobbs did say that someone from the Kerry campaign had been invited to come on the show but backed out at the last minute. So what gives with that? That's something I hardly think our side can afford. I'd like to know more about that and the reasons for it. Hmmm....

Was very disappointed in Lou Dobbs. Usually he is very quick to respond to obvious bs. His main concern now is all the "broken borders"

| 12. Awww matcom. John O'Neill's an asshat. Take comfort in it. |
|
He makes a complete monkey of himself every time his lying, partisan, Bush-loving, appointment-groveling, ugly fucking mug shows up on television.
He makes me laugh. He's a real hoot, and nobody's listening to him anymore. Try not to be angry, hon. Just laugh at that hideous rug of his, and try to do something productive while he's on TV. I like to do dishes while he's on in the background, personally. And blow dish-soap bubbles with my hearty laughter.

I watched him on the Newshour tonight and I kept looking at his hair. It looked really odd -- and I thought "That's a rug."
And BTW, Oliphant really destroyed him. Oliphant said all his allegations don't even get to first base in terms of journalistic credibility. It was truly satisfying to watch!

...all have been taken off my channel listing. The only TV I watch is Democracy Now and The Daily Show. I get my 'news' off the web.
- I'm not buying the argument that people need to listen to the Propaganda News and Limbaugh in order to know what the opposition's up to. Listening to them will only raise your blood pressure and fill your head with useless information.
- Don't watch the 'embedded' news.

|
and, the problem is...when you watch it you can get alot of stuff done which one can't when one has to get it all online where concentration is so important.
I underestand how hard it is to give it all up...and I have for the most part...What good does it do to get high blood pressure from screaming at a TV Screen just so you can "pay bills," "organize stuff," vacuum the carpet," "sort change," etc...when the price you pay sitting in front of the "monitor" is "wan and pale look, a big butt from sitting, and that glazed eyeballs rolling in your head" look one gets from reading too much info over the web?
I don't know...but agree with you Q. However, there are tradeoffs. :D

| 22. Kerry can't REALLY win this argument.... |
|
The RW knows the swiftvets stuff is thin. They probably know it is easily disputed and that Kerry will technically prevail.
But...it's the pig hoping for mud wrestling. It's sprinkling the landscape with "tar babies" for Brer Rabbit to play with.
Even if Kerry strongly and successfully engages these issues (the ribbons vs medals problem, the swiftvets outrage, the flip flop fiction, the voting record nonsense, the sensitivity hypocrisy)AS HE HAS TO DO when they come up there will always be another one around the corner. Kerry will be playing defense the rest of the campaign.
It doesn't matter to the WH if both parties end up getting dirty. This administration is willing to say anything to bring both candidates down together. The desperate underdog has no choice but to dump the rules, cheat, lie, stir up the pot, tip the playing board over. When both candidates look bad, the apparent difference between them will be diminished.
Not only does this level the playing field...not only do many people continue to believe this stuff even when ultimately disputed....not only does it take time and money from the challenger to respond...but what bothers me the most is that it also keeps everyone from talking about the real, live issues.
Why does the sleazy, soap opera issue of the swiftvets get more airtime (from the media AND from Kerry campaign) than the AWOL Project? Or Plame? Or Edmonds? Or Iran secrets? Or $700 million Afganistan diversion? Halliburton? Energy Task Force? Lying to Congress? Contempt of Congress? 27 minute freeze? 12,000 - 15,000 dead for un-necessary war? These are real issues, not fabrications, yet the media seems more comfortable with the fabrications. Do we not want to face up to the fact that we have a disaster of an administration on our hands?
How can we avoid letting the WH make a bloody mess of the whole process up until Nov 2 and even after? Hope for more congressmen to cross the aisle and say what they really believe? Hope for the media to make a U-turn and start being real journalists? Hope that enough people will take the time to do research on their own and figure out which one rides a Harley and which one is afraid of horses?
Otherwise this guerrilla campaign of the WH (ironically similar in tactics to what desparate Iraq insurgents are using...chaos, fear, suicide, bending of morals) will make the process uglier and closer no matter what Kerry does. "Dishonorable" but frustratingly effective WH tactics are going to make it closer than it should be.
