Kerry Challenges Bush to Weekly Debates
ANOKA, Minn. - John Kerry (news - web sites) challenged President Bush (news - web sites) on Thursday to weekly debates from now until Nov. 2 on campaign issues like education, health care and national security.
"America deserves a discussion like we're having here today, which I'm prepared to have with this president every single week from now until the election," the Democratic presidential candidate said.
Kerry issued the challenge while speaking about health care at Anoka Hennepin Technical College, fielding questions from a group of more than 200 people, some of them self-described undecided voters.
The Kerry campaign picked Anoka County for its known political independence, drawing the audience from counties surrounding Minneapolis and St. Paul. Anoka County voted for presidents Clinton and Bush, as well as independent former Gov. Jesse Ventura, and tends to be a bellwether for statewide candidates.
The Bush-Cheney campaign rebuffed the debate challenge.
"There will be a time for debates after the convention, and during the next few weeks, John Kerry should take the time to finish the debates with himself," responded Bush-Cheney spokesman Steve Schmidt.
"This election presents a clear choice to the American people between a president who is moving America forward and a senator who has taken every side of almost every issue," he said.
So not only do they chicken out, but the candyass little punks are still sniveling the same tired of lies of Kerry's so called flip flopping.
I updated this because I agree it's not "tough" but so far by the standards I've seen it is bordering on getting more vocal and out there, and personally I see Kerry loudly challenging Bush to debates so we can have it out right now with nothing to hide behind and he still refuses and I think voters will take note of this fact.

orange alerts in swing states, or some highway sniper in a swing state to prevent cowardly-W from talking about Jesus as his favorite philosopher while killing thousands of people in the name of Jesus. Besides, don't get your hopes up about Kerry, he's articulate but he is boring. I do not find boring a character flaw, in fact, I'd LOVE four years of BORING after these past four years of insanity, however, most dumbass Americans are just that...dumbass Americans with an attention span of a soap dish.

| 4. Bush ought to be eager to debate, since it would allow him to |
|
show us all what flip-flopper that Kerry supposedly is.
If he's the better candidate, then debates can only make him look better. I hope Kerry's campaign doesn't let him off the hook on this. Keep challenging him, repeatedly.

| 11. I know. My latest posts have been - stay positive. |

But I'm getting more disturbed by the false SBVT ads. Even false info, or 'opinion' is being consrued as fact.
I was hoping this would bring up *'s military record. Silence.
So I guess we need to do it.

Nice, smarmy little comment from Bushco.

clucking like a chicken whenever he mentions the chimp.
Or maybe double-dog dare him.
That's the only way that little simian will ever agree to a one-on-one unscripted debate.

| 13. No, Kerry needs to set up a debate scene at every campaign stop |
|
complete with a cardboard cutout of bush* at the opposing lectern. Kerry should "debate" him anyway. After the 3rd "debate" a cardboard cutout of cheney should be placed next to cardbush*, and the "debate" should continue.

They want to play fucking hardball with these Swift boat idiots then play hardball.
Ask the Chimp in Chief why he refused to take the test along with James Bath. Ask he why he would do such a thing when it meant that he was grounded and had his wings taken away.
How come George...Huh??

| 14. Good reply to Shmidt: |
|
Now, there's a quick point that comes to mind: if what Steve Schmidt is saying is true, that Kerry takes every side of every issue, wouldn't it be in 43's theoretical favor to have Kerry debate on every issue so to prove the accusation? And will Kerry use this argument to mock Bush if he fails to debate? http://www.bestoftheblogs.com/2004_08_26_bestof.html#109355448522909017
